Haunted private detective Charlie Parker returns in this “not to be missed” (Bookreporter) thriller by New York Times and internationally bestselling author John Connolly.

Daniel Clay, a once-respected psychiatrist, has gone missing, following revelations about the harm done to children in his care. Now, a killer obsessed with finding the truth about his own daughter’s disappearance is seeking revenge, and Charlie Parker finds himself trapped between those who want the truth about Clay to be revealed, and those who will go to any lengths to keep it hidden.

As with his previous novels, John Connolly masterfully intertwines mystery, emotion, and violence in this gripping page-turner. Fast-paced, hypnotic, and elegantly written, The Unquiet is John Connolly at his chilling best.

A great story about a knight errant whoops what's necessary to help those who need it. He is in the right and wrong business, not the legal/illegal business.

Charlie Parker Straddles Two Worlds

The best narrator and a great story! The humor was timely and suspense was great! A fun listen!

George Guidall is a premier storyteller!

There were too many distractions for me. The storyline threw in too many elements that just didn't need to be there. The author could have spent more time developing the characters, less on the 'other-worldly' nonsense. The story, overall, was a mile wide and a millimeter deep.

It felt contrived

Another great Charlie Parker story. Complex and compelling. The plot keeps moving forward, but in the end all the strands draw together in a satisfying conclusion. Connelly’s writing is so good. The books are great individually, but the epic supernatural over story means that the grand elements of good and evil, the reappearance of grim characters, and Parker’s continuing interaction with the darkest events isn’t just treated like coincidence. He’s not Angela Landsbury living in a town where tons of people just happen to get murdered. There’s a design. There’s a bigger story going on. That’s what elevates these books beyond your run of the mill detective stories. And it’s great!

Fantastic!

If you want to hear a great thriller that will keep you guessing until the end, give this a listen. Also I love the voice of George Guidall.

Great THRILLER

One of the very BEST Charlie Parker written by John Connolly. Don’t miss it !!!!!!!...I’ve read listened and read them all.

The BEST!!

As much as I enjoy Charlie, I simply love Louie and Angel.
Recant get enough.

What did you like best about The Unquiet? What did you like least?

I like all of Connolly's books. The least thing that I liked was the Narrator. To me, Bird is 40'ish and Mr. Guidall makes him sound like an elderly gentleman. Voice just does not go with my vision of Charlie Parker.

Would you recommend The Unquiet to your friends? Why or why not?

I would recommend to most friends. The friends who balk at graphic writing would need to pass on Connolly books in this series.

Who would you have cast as narrator instead of George Guidall?

Someone with younger voice.

Good, but . . .

A struggle to get through this one I can tell you that. Writing OK. George Guidall's story telling saved it, made it worth my time.

Hard subject matter

Slower than usual Charlie Parker stories (and that's saying A LOT) but the reader is terrible. I think he did the first few too and I strongly disliked that narration as well. Story is strong though.

Reader = Zzzzz
