Resumen del Editor

An experiment that began 2.8 billion years ago is about to end....

Seb Varden is starting to get used to life as a World Walker. With a body full of alien nanotechnology, the ability to travel anywhere instantly and - most surprising of all - a steady relationship with Meera Patel, things are finally looking up.

Until Seb has his first blackout, starts meeting aliens and discovers a plan that threatens the entire human race. And, of course, Mason, the most dangerous Manna user, picks this particular moment to come after him and Meera.

Scariest of all, Seb is learning his transformation into a World Walker is far from complete....

Monkeys, aliens, technology, parallel universes, music, psychopaths, A.I., a magic tech spider, The Unmaking Engine has it all, including the explanation of how all life on Earth began. Did I mention monkeys?

The strongest of the series

This was a very satisfying entry in the series that just seemed to be firing on all cylinders from the start. The story felt more focused than the first book; which is impressive as I really enjoyed the first book. This explored an intriguing aspect and character from book 1 in great detail. It's hard to review this without revealing any spoilers. So I'll just stress that if you enjoyed the first book and felt like you wanted more, then you really shouldn't hesitate with this one. The narration even got stronger from book one as I feel like Mr. Boyce continues to get a better feel for the characters.

Best book in the series!

I've read all 4 books and I'm writing one review for them all with the hope to help you decide if it is worth listening them. My first impression is that it sound a lot like a tale (fairy tale if you wish). It is not such, but it does sound like one. It grabs you from the beginning, very original start. You might experience memories from your childhood while listening this book (the whole series actually), which was a great feeling for me and hopefully for you too. The author makes a wonderful job extending the story in a way that you don't get bored by useless character building. The character building happens while the story develops - the author takes a short chapters to show you something in the past and that's how it happens. Most of the times those short chapters in the past are accompanied with nice story, so even that is not boring.

The narrator - super, amazing job... I'm simply speech less. I can't imagine anyone better for this job. I'm big fan of R.C. Bray, but I think even he can't make that good narration of the book. I'd say he is half of the pleasure you get while listening the book. The main reason - he reads the book as a story-tale.

As for the story - you might think it is a sci-fi, then a fantasy.. then a mixture.. and the truth could be somewhere in between.. who knows :) But it is an original story and it is entertaining.

Now about each book:

The World Walker - 9 out of 10 - great beginning of the series.
The Unmaking Engine - 10 out of 10 - simply amazing, probably the best book of them all.
The Seventeenth Year - 7 out of 10 - now that's a problem. If you are pretty young, you will probably give it 10/10, but I'm nearly 40 and it did sound a lot like teenage action. Also too much love. Basically I think this was the weakest book of them all, but still interesting enough. You better don't skip it or you will regret :)
The Unnamed Way - 9 out of 10 - back in business again! All goodies are back again.. there's again a bit more love/romance then needed and a little flat end, but the end is just 1-2 chapters, while all the rest was very entertaining. The story prior the end was very interesting and the end itself was expected and nothing spectacular.

The author has a great potential. I see these are his first books. He has a great writing skills, very captivate style. I just wish he does a bit less distraction.. lets say 10-20% less would make his books even more interesting. But even with this I definitely put this author is my personal top 3 and I'm very keen on reading/listening more books by Ian W. Sainsbury !

Great ending to the World Walker

I thought this book was even better than book 1 of the World Walker series, and it has a great ending.

ok

I feel like Ian wasn't sure where to go with these uber cool charqcters he'd created, so he just wandered all over the place.

Great series.

Aside from some questionable pronunciations, the narrator has done a fine job of creating voices for each character. Great story too.

So, how old is this guy?

a 30 something gets godlike powers and immediately turns into a 17 year old.

That's my issue with the story. I couldn't buy the main character was in his 30s. We also get a character's back story for no apparent reason. And no sense of jeopardy at any point in the story.

Great Follow-up to the First Book

The first book was so much brain candy. This one, you grow attached to Seb, Mee, and there's a surprise character you wouldn't expect you end up liking. ;) You learn more about the Rosser's and Manna. This is well written, with leading the reader on an epic adventure. Downloading the 3rd book after reading the cliff hanger. Thanks Mr. Sainsbury for not giving up on your dreams of writing.

creative plot.

good action. creative plot with some themes about where we may stand in the universal sentience. the writing itself is good enough, this isn't going to win awards for mastery of language or character development, but it is a fun series to read and I am looking forward to the third book.

Dont waste your time

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, the story just drags on. I finished it, but barely remember it ending. I was glad when it was finally over.

Would you ever listen to anything by Ian Sainsbury again?

Nope
