Beautiful historical narrative

I absolutely loved this story. The touch of romance, the strong character and faith arcs, and Hunt’s attention to historical accuracy made this book such a joy. I will definitely be purchasing the rest of this series! I thought the narration was really well done as well! Highly recommend

Well written and outstanding narration

I enjoyed the character development and the narrator did a great job bringing each one to life.

What a precious book! I received a copy of this audiobook from the author and finished it in record time. 🫣😅 I have never read this author but look forward to reading so much more of her books now! Sometimes when an author writes in a particular genre I feel like every book, every author, every story can be fit into a particular template if you will and they become a bit predictable. While I still enjoy reading them, they are a bit cookie cutter. This book did NOT get squeezed into that mold! The storyline of walking in God’s will and timing ministered to my heart and the legacy we can leave in the ordinary and mundane nearly brought me to tears. Definitely a 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from me!

Captivating story!

I chose this book for a fun Christmas read thinking to listen to it off and on through December. I started yesterday and couldn’t tear myself away, finding solitary tasks so I could keep listening. I loved this story! Sweet, tender, and deep, I would recommend this story to anyone!

Now I want to read the trilogy of Song and Sorrow

John and Sarah's story was one of an age-old stories of rich versus poor. However in the story we learn that being rich monetarily doesn't mean much when one doesn't pay attention to the important things in life. John and Sarah learn to love each other and show God's love to others in this story. I like that it is set in a time period of the 1890s since I know less about that era than WWI or WWII.

I LOVED this book so much

This book was absolutely delightful. Excellent storyline, historically and culturally accurate, truly thoroughly Christian. Alllllll the love for this precious story. I loved the contrasts of the characters, the southern setting, and the wholesome Christian nature of this story and the ending was lovely and tied together the story perfectly.

Lovely Story

One of the major themes of this story reminded me of this scripture-

A man’s heart plans his way but the Lord directs his steps Prov 16:9

What we see as failure can be the Lord redirecting where we are suppose to be and what we are suppose to do. It only requires our trust in Him.

The H and h come from northern wealth and southern poverty, yet are brought together in their moves to Atlanta. Their backgrounds are so different yet their beliefs and faith become the common thread that draw them to each other. Hunt effortlessly incorporates historical details and spiritual lessons throughout this story and does it well within the framework of a novella.

I am fortunate that I was able to read this prequel prior to reading the series. I look forward to the next three books since I have already purchased them.

The audiobook began as more of a reading than narration but got better as the book went along. The characters were distinct and the narration was clear. Rating 3.5*

This book is suitable for teens and older with no inappropriate intimate scenes and no bad language. I received the audiobook format of this book from the author free of charge, with no expectation of a positive review.

Very good

I enjoyed this story. John was searching the Lord's will for his life and he's standing by his convictions doing so. Lord let him to someone who'd make a good wife for him and he stood by him even though his family was unkind. a story of loss, love, and family told by a grandmother to her granddaughter.

Great Narration

I went into this story blind only aware of the narrator's debut and she did not disappoint! I loved the variation of her tones. The story was also interesting, I enjoyed it.
