I wanted a therapy workbook and this one stood out to me because it had the highest rating and uses the DBT and somatic modalities. Messages such as “you are exactly where you need to be” will be said (which no, why anyone tell someone in a traumatic situation that they are exactly where they need to be, this is not helpful or healing, it is a sweet nothing). It will also tell you that seeing a patch of grass will make you less anxious and you should create a healing space assuming you aren’t homeless. Why did I spend money on this. The narration sounds dull and uninterested in the topics. Fire palms (an activity it will prescribe you) assumes you have two hands to rub together to somehow help you cope with systemic oppression like poverty, misogyny, ect. It says “hey surround yourself with people who only make you feel good” which how do you grow if left perpetually unchallenged and how realistic is that anyway, that’s not based in reality.

All in all I’m disappointed that this book is rated as high as it is.
