What was one of the most memorable moments of The Three Musketeers?

The whole book was memorable. In today's society, it's easy to get lost in the language but don't let that stop you. The fight between Dartanian and the three Muskateers near the beginning was my favorite part. Especially seeing as they bonded so closely after that.

Which character – as performed by John Lee – was your favorite?

Dartanian was my favorite. He was a proud man with a good heart and fierce loyalties.

Do yourself a favor and stick with this book. Once it grabs you, you'll be hooked. If you get confused with a particular section, go back and listen again.

5 Star Story Read By A 2 Star Narrator

With the exception of Les Miserables (my lifelong obsession) and just a few others, I really haven't delved much into classics. I read the print version of this book and absoltuely flipped head over heels for it. I mean, I love every part of this story. I enjoyed the characters & story so much that I decided that I wanted to revisit the entire thing just months after reading, and so I got this audiobook.
Well.... of the 500 or so audiobooks that I own, this narrator is either THE worst, or in the bottom 2. I found him completely intolerable, and even the mind-blowing excitement of The Three Musketeers was not enough to keep me listening.
To be honest, I would rather give "performance" one star than the two that I gave it, but I enjoy this story so much that I couldn't do it.
As far as the actual story, wow. So much emotion included in here. You will feel everything! A certain character in this just may be the most evil person I've ever encountered in all of literature. The musketeers themselves are timelessly lovable and impressive. I enjoy this story so much that I scarcely know how to convince anyone that even if it doesn't take right away, they ought to stick through the entire book and enjoy it.

Fabulous !!

This story is fabulous in every way! Plots upon subplots - the characters grow and mature over the course of the many adventures, trials, loves, tribulations, and losses of the 3 musketeers and a member of the guard - D'Artagnan. Truly - this is great literature - the language beautiful (although the translation does matter) the story rich, humorous, sorrowful, and penetrated with emotional color. This is a classic you must read :)

Good story, amazing reader

What made the experience of listening to The Three Musketeers the most enjoyable?

John Lee is one of the best audiobook readers.
The story is very exciting. You can see how movie adaptations become so adventurous and fun to watch (even though they only borrow like two chapters worth of content from the original book) because the book feels very fast paced even though it's fairly long.

What did you like best about this story?

The adventure!

What about John Lee’s performance did you like?

He does a great job distinguishing character voices without sounding silly or excessive. He also handles the french well and makes it easy to listen for those of us who have no inkling toward understanding it at all.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

The many times when a character was trying to catch up with another to prevent some unknown horrible thing -- so intense! Also, Athos' backstory.

Highly recommended. Brace yourself for the ending though.

Oh My God, What a Book

I Can't believe I've went 48 years and haven't read this book.
There were parts in this book that I wanted to skip because the story had me so mad. Am so glad I didn't.
From the start it grabbed me and would not turn loose. I usually listen riding to work and when I cut grass, I even cut my neighbors yard so I could get another 2 hours of book time. I would give 2 credits for just another 2 hours.
Wow just Wow.
