Resumen del Editor

In 1691, the town of Crossfall taught the witch Thessaly how to die. They beat her, they shot her, they hung her--but nothing worked. When they finally tried to bury her alive Thessaly set the field against them. The first man died as a gust of wind harrowed the meat from his bones. A root, flung like a dirty javelin, cut a second man down. Many more deaths followed. The Preacher Fell impaled the witch upon her very own broom but she dragged him down into the field to wait for three more centuries.

Three hundred years later Maddy Harker will murder her bullying husband Vic. She will bury him in the field as she buried her abusive father years before that. The very same field where the revenant spirit of Thessaly Cross lies waiting.

In three days Vic will rise again - a thing of dirt, bone and hatred.

Men will call him the Tatterdemon. And hell--and Thessaly--will follow!

A unique horror novel

I listened to it in parts (also available) but I recommend you get this one, because you'll want to listen to it as one book. I'd say it's a must for any horror fan. It's a good story, and finally, something new! Vernon writes some great stuff. Narrated very well too.

chicken fried horror

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

I actually quite liked this book. Very remeniscent of the old 90's horror movies in it's feel. The narration is well done and the southern fried dialog was very entertaining. It's twisted and fun. Well worth a try if you like the horror genre.

Old Time Horror

Thessaly Cross the witch in book one was tortured, burned, shot at, hung and buried alive. In book 2 there many characters to follow in the town of Crossfall goes insane and the dead rise. I enjoyed Maddy, Big Daddy (ghost) and Marvin; Maddy killed her violent husband Vic who comes back as well as other ghosts. Book 3 (I felt the best and blended with 1&2) was the longest where you have to survive the scarecrows, good old fashion horror and the characters from book 2. Recommend if you enjoy horror and folk tales with good narration. I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. Thank you

Bizzare but the Southern Expressions are Hilarious

The whole story is completely different than anything I've ever listened to before. It was a very bizarre and twisted and at the same time fascinating story to say the least. As a book, I don't think it was too scary, but if this was made this into a movie, it'd probably be pretty creepy if the graphics were done just right.

There are some things I didn't understand, but I think a second listen would easily clear it up. I think it was because I had a hard time keeping up with who is who. It also seemed to take a bit to get into the swing of things, kind of like "alright this is kinda weird but where is it going".

Some of the sayings/expressions/metaphors used were just down right hilarious. Don't listen if you're easily offended though!

I think the narrator nailed the performance perfectly. His voice makes it seem like the story was set somewhere in a small town in the south (I hope that was the intention). The redneck expressions and "aints", etc. lead me to believe that was the case, but the author never really says.

I received a review copy and have voluntarily left this unbiased review.

Perfect Mesh of Story and Performance

I'd read Steve Vernon's works once before and knew I liked his small town narrative style, but that work about selkies was tame compared to the rip-roaring action of this trilogy. The first short novel sets the stage with background and history but don't worry, it's provided with some of the best and most brutal imagery I've heard. The second is basically a bridge between the past and the present, but to be honest it's a collision course. An the final is the reckoning as all the depraved individuals descend into a frenetic showdown. Each section is great, but the whole story deserves to be told in one.

It also deserves to be told by a good story teller and in this case the match between narrator and story seemed to fit perfectly. The narrator gave the characters life, and as tension ratcheted up throughout I never once was taken out of the story flow by the narration.

I received this free review copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review. I highly recommend this story and the author/ narrator involved in its creation.

Crazy and gripping

It was a well written book love the way the story and the characters developed. Humans would act the same way if we was put in the same place. Steve Vernon keep the stories coming.

A Fun Read

The Tatterdemon Omnibus: All Three Books of the Tatterdemon Trilogy in One Collection - A great read and entertaining from first page to last. The trilogy moves along seamlessly between books.
The characters are larger than life and the descriptive writing of Mr Vernon is superb.
Rick Gregory's narration is excellent and he adds so much to the enjoyment and black humour of this book.

Surprisingly weird and awesome!

So, I thoroughly recommended this book to anyone who loves 80's slasher movies, for one. for two, I would recommend to anyone who loves B movies and visceral horror. seriously this was an AWESOME trilogy, as I am a diehard fan of Children of the Corn and Friday the Thirteenth, not that this story even tangentially touches on any of those plots. But, if you are a fan of that genre, you will LOVE this! Seriously, Hollywood should take notice, since slasher films are trending, and we are seeing yet ANOTHER incarnation of Halloween. HERE is a new trope, ripe for exploitation!

A woman buries her husband in her field, not knowing that it is cursed and nothing good will come of it. Other people get dragged into the magic of the Tatterdemon.A really good story all the way through.
Rick Gregory was a fine narrator.I was given this book by the narrator, author or publisher free for an honest review.
