Good if you like Sidney Sheldon-style storytelling

Yes, this is written very much like a Sidney Sheldon novel, not much depth to the characters, lots of drama / melodrama to keep the paging turning, some romantic entanglements to spice things up, and plenty of exotic locales. It's not great writing but it certainly has entertainment value. But the narration was terrible ! Too slow, wrong vocal style for this story, the narrator sounded too old for the characters.

Loved the thread of Hope throughout the story and the way the characters developed and grew through that hope

The narrator’s voice is completely wrong for the major characters. It’s nasal, whining, irritating like a wasp buzzing near your ear. Ruined what is an otherwise amazing, gripping story.

I loved this book!

This was one of those books I didn’t want to have to turn off and couldn’t wait to listen to again. I loved it. And Nancy Wu’s narration was awesome. Everyone sounded different and I always knew who was speaking.

sucks you in I felt like a moth to the flame of this story. it takes a lot to impress me but I will admit I was impressed!
