On October 23, 1989, affluent businessman Charles Stuart made a frantic 911 call from his car to report that he and his seven-months-pregnant wife, Carol, a lawyer, had been robbed and shot by a Black male in the Mission Hill neighborhood of Boston. By the time police arrived, Carol was dead, and the baby was soon lost as well. The attack incited a furor during a time of heightened racial tension in the community. Even more appalling, while the injuries were real, Stuart’s story was a hoax: He was the true killer.

Resumen del Editor
In 1955, small-town girls flock to Minneapolis for work, love, and adventure. But Teresa Hickman, from Dollar, North Dakota, is a special case. Beguiling. Promiscuous. And, on a chilly April morning, dead along an abandoned trolley track in a Southside neighborhood.
Teresa Hickman was three months pregnant when she was strangled. Was the unborn child's father also her killer? Could the killer have been - among the many men drawn to her like flies to honey - Dr. H. David Rose, a middle-aged dentist who admits he was with her the night she died? There's no forensic evidence or credible witnesses tying him to the murder. Yet the police, including a pair of obsessive investigators with lethal secrets of their own, agree that a Jewish dentist will get them a conviction.
Dr. Rose's spectacular trial and its shocking aftermath will mesmerize the Upper Midwest like few crime sagas before or since.
Contains mature themes.

Historia
On an August night in 1986, Jennifer Levin left a Manhattan bar with Robert Chambers. The next morning, her strangled, battered body was found in Central Park. Linda Wolfe goes beyond the headlines and media hype to recreate a story of a teenager whose immigrant mother was determined to make a better life for her son, a petty thief and drug user who'd been expelled from the best schools. Wasted powerfully depicts the freewheeling 1980s society that spawned a generation steeped in violence and the fatal impulses that drove Robert Chambers to kill.

Not worth reading
Hard to stay focused, no real suspense or excitement. The main focus of the story was how most of the women had lovers and all of the men screwed around. Hard to keep feel much about any/all characters although I kept waiting for someone or something to come alive!
