Neat subject, voice drive me nuts

I really enjoyed the entire series set on the Outer Banks. I just could not get into the narrators voice-much too old & serious/uptight for a 38 year old. I’m 40 & if I sounded like that-yikes! I’m feel the book would have been much better with one of the other narrators of the other books.

Best book I’ve ever heard!

This one has been my favorite by Lisa Wingate!! The ending!!!! Wow!! A must read!

Interesting tale

I found this book to be very entertaining. I really enjoy reading historical fiction and seem to learn tremendous amount of information when I do thank you for sharing this intriguing and well written book.

I love Lisa Wingate’s stories and how the stories within tie together. This one was no exception and a wonderful “read”!!

Love the setting on OBX

Overall interesting story but characters are a little lame. Wish more was developed about Melugan ethnic background.

Great story idea but

I wanted to shake the main character sometimes to open her eyes and stop being obtuse
The story was very good and some fast forward did wonders for the irritating parts

Full of history

I just could not keep up with the switching back & forth of subjects, people & places. One voice of several characters was very confusing while jumping from one place to another. For me it dragged too much when putting the letters together, I wanted to move on with the story. Then the author switched the story up and ended in disappointment for me. It probably should have been made as a history book & left out the side characters. Sorry it didn’t work for me.

Absolutely wonderful!!!

This book is so amazing! I read it years ago without realizing it was the last book in a series. I’ve now listened to all the other books (including books 0.5, 1.5, and 2.5) in the Carolina Chronicles series. The book is amazing all on its own, but if you listen to it after the others, it’s absolutely extraordinary!!
