A few plot elements are definitely a bit forced and main character has remained somewhat unnecessarily weak. For instance, killing immediately when capture and draining would be easy more strategically sound and quite easy. Other than that annoyance the story progresses at an ok pace and is written well.

Decent novel

After enjoying the first book, I found this sequel to be a major letdown. The story really lacked depth, and the plot elements felt overly simplistic and forced.

The book felt like a children's book for Vikings, with a narrative style that was far too basic for the dark themes and violence. This made for a very jarring and frustrating experience. The simplistic plot and flat characters felt disconnected from the serious, violent world they inhabited.

Overall, the book felt like it was written without a lot of thought. If you're looking for a simple, fast-paced story and don't mind a lack of depth, this might work for you. However, if you're hoping for a more mature or complex fantasy, this may not be the right choice.
