Resumen del Editor

Expedition leader Hiram Kane is in Japan when the storm of the century hits. He joins the rescue mission as flash floods cause chaos, death and destruction.

Yakuza boss Katashi Goto is retiring from the mob. Before he does, there is one more thing to achieve: revenge over a centuries old enemy.

When their two very different worlds collide, Kane is forced to make a choice. He has always known honour is worth fighting for. When challenged by Katashi, he has to decide if it is also worth dying for.

The Samurai Code is the first instalment of the Hiram Kane adventure series. For fans of Russell Blake and Clive Cussler, Steven Moore's breakout action thriller will leave you breathless.

Well done! Awesome story.

Would you listen to The Samurai Code again? Why?

Yes I would, Kenneth Bryant is an awesome narrator based on his performance and he nailed the Japanese voices.

Who was your favorite character and why?

The MC Hiram Kane because he reminds me of Indiana Jones and I can easily see him fitting into a movie adaption. Steve has clearly crafted this character very well!

Have you listened to any of Kenneth Bryant’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No, I have not, this is my first time hearing Kenneth. He puts the feeling into each character including the Japanese Boss. This guy has a great talent!

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

It made me laugh a few times, but it kept me on the edge of my seat. Reading the book was great, but in audio format, it's 10 times better. This could easily be the British version of Indiana Jones!

An honorable man

Yet another adventure with Hiram Kane we follow him on his journey to Japan. This time Hiram not only saves a national treasure he also saves countless lives. He came to Japan to enjoy the scenery, the culture and the Apple Blossoms (or are they Plum Blossoms?). Mother nature had some different plans it would seem. Hiram is always up to the challenge. Like the Samurai of old Japan you can be sure that Hiram Kane will do the right thing even if his own life my hang in the balance.

Interesting.

A tale of samurai, and a good story line makes this book interesting. I received this audio book for free and voluntarily reviewed.

Great re-read

The Samurai Code, my second read from author Steven Moore. The action takes off like a jet plane of an aircraft carrier and never lets up until the end. I read this book in one sitting! Well-written action-thriller, with well-developed characters. I’ll be reading more in this series and look forward to The Condor Prophecy. Narrator Kenneth Bryant's narration again made this re-read so very enjoyable! "I received a free review copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." (RIP Marley January 20, 2014 - July 24, 2018).

Fun story

Good story with imbedded history lesson. A bit expository at times with unnecessary inner thoughts and asides.

Narration was solid, although a bit overdone with unnecessary breathless emphasis.

Great Series & Narration

Hiram and Naki risking their lives to save others from the raging water and then there would be mudslides from the hillsides in Japan.
Resting now in a ryokan, and reading about the samurai men had interested him from college, to be one the discipline, patience, skill, and selfishness. Katashi Goto was a drug lord, retraining to be a monk. His forebears were samurai, the Japanese government denied the connection. He now would rectify that, by stealing what was rightfully belonging to his family. Hiram tried, with no luck to alert someone of what was pending. It was up to him, and he wonders ‘what sort of ego is making him to do this’
The setting, the temples the history make his books captivating as though there, with him and his adventures.
Given audio for my voluntary review which greatly added to this story.

A great follow up

A great 2nd installment to a series. I love the different settings and the history that is woven in the story with out it being too much.

Hints of an adventurer with more of a tale to tell

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book introduces Hiram Kane and as such, moved slower than usual. There are hints that there is more to come on Hiram's background, but there is sufficient detail in this book to give a rounded story. Not as much of a mystery as I thought there would be but the small insights into Japanese culture added to the overall reading enjoyment. I received this audio book for free and voluntarily reviewed.

Ancient and modern human ideals collide

Received as an audio review copy from Story Origin, this is an honest review. Narrated by the impeccable Kenneth Bryant, whose masterful performance of Katashi Goto, especially as he deeply wounded was just so believable and memorable. When a business and pleasure trip brings Hiram Kane to Japan; but it's ensuing monstrous storm that batters the country and a Yakuza boss's ideals of ancient samurai family honor that will leave its mark and memory upon Hiram... as well as his own views of honor and justice to those around him. And unforgettable profound and poignant and gorgeous adventure. Highly recommended.
