Del and "Ray Cobb" are tested as they struggle to survive harsh, brutal conditions. As Rae Lynn forges a deeper friendship with Del and Cornelia, she begins to envision a path out of the camp. But she will have to come to terms with her past before she can open herself to a new life and seize the chance to begin again....

Great story

Really enjoyed this book. Easy listening. Flows nicely. I think you would find the characters seem to come to life.

Super enjoyable audiobook!

The narrator really brings all the characters to life in this audiobook. I’ve been meaning to read The Saints of Swallow Hill for awhile, but I’m so glad I listened to the Audible addition instead of buying the book.

Wonderful Story!

I loved the character development in this story! It made the story engaging and wonderful!

Too long and repetitive.

This story needed more “wins” or positives earlier in the story. The characters were great and I got invested in them but it felt very dreary for the majority of the book

Enjoyable

Good story, good performance. I really enjoyed this book. Would definitely recommend this audio book!

Not as good as other Donna Everhart books.

Interesting story, but too long. “Bad guys” were all simplistically one-dimensional and all sounded the same (in writing & performance). They grated on my nerves! This is the first Donna Everhart book I’ve read that was subpar.

great story

I really enjoyed this story a lot. Narration was great great. I highly recommend this book.

A Good Read

A very interesting story with the background “character” being the harvesting of turpentine. Great character development overall and the convergence of the characters stories filled with a few twists and turns that kept me wondering and wanting to read!

My only complaint was the overuse of the word “said”. There are plenty of synonyms.

Good story - interesting setting

First time reading one of Donna Everhart's books - enjoyed it enough to try another one. Interesting & well researched story about turpentine production in the 1930's.

decent read

The book was overall a decent read. started off very promising and was building up to be a good drama. Good strong characters. However, the ending fell flat and a little disappointing.
