Fun, adult storytelling

I love this series so far. It has it all; mystery, murder, sex, Lords & Ladies and did I mention sex? Just enough spice+romance to be exciting & not gross. A step above the common 'Cozy' mystery. While there is no paranormal aspect, being a Noble & rich trained assasin is much like a superpower. Think, sexy 18th century Batman with better accents. I wish more relationship based novels would employ couples as narrators. I enjoy The Duke & Duchess very much. It makes for a much better & an even easier listen. Looking forward to Hugh's wedding?

GREAT CHARACTERS

Another great book in another great series. This is my second time around with the four books that we have so far. I say that in hopes that we may be lucky enough to have another one pop up in this series of wonderful books. And, I might add, with wonderful narrators. The four books that are so far in this series have been a joy for me to read - twice already. Before I even reviewed them I had to go through the series another time just to enjoy them again before I did any kind of review. I. Thinking I should ave going with a 5 star on each of them, but I drive a hard bargain when I rate books! C.J. Archer has, for the most part, become one of my favorite authors. I say “for the most part” only because I have not yet read ALL of her books. I have yet to read all that she has out there, and some of the series have not been as inviting to me just based on the covers or some of the descriptions. But I suspect I will have read them all before I am finished. The series I have read have given me so much joy and laughter and happiness thus far, so I will continue to read all I can. Thank you, Ms. Archer, for so very many hours of enjoyment and fun.

Formulaic romance

Naive young girl falls in love with older “gentleman”. Hijinks ensue. Reputations might be ruined by a kiss. Female narrator is overly dramatic and reads with odd cadence. Everything sounds insufferable and whiny. Male narrator is more listenable.
