Resumen del Editor

Marilena Carpathia has only one dream: to be a mother. So when a mysterious clairvoyant promises the fulfillment of this dream, Marilena does not hesitate. Through genetic engineering and the power of the prince of darkness himself, Marilena is about to become a chosen vessel, one who will unknowingly give birth to the greatest evil the world has ever known.

Halfway around the world, God's plans are subtly being carried out too. Young Ray Steele is determined to avoid one day taking over the family business. Instead, Ray sets his heart on becoming a pilot.

Soon Carpathia's and Steele's lives will intersect. And good and evil will clash in an explosion that will shake the world.

The eternal battle for souls has come to earth. The world hurtles toward the countdown to the Rapture.

The Rising is the first book in the Countdown to the Rapture.

Great book

I am bummed having to use one of my credits for a three hour book. I should have thought to look but now I know. The Left behind series books are 10+ hours of reading.

Better than I was expecting

I enjoyed all the Left Behind series (I read them all on paper), so I was trying not to have too high an expectation for this "prequel." It held my attention - in some parts it was riveting - and overall was just fine. I don't particularly agree with all the doctrine in either this book or the Left Behind series, but that's not why I read them. They're good adventure/mystery/intrigue books without the graphic sex or language a secular book would have. I liked it and will buy the next one, if there is one.

Superb! You Will Not Be Dissapointed!

I have read all the novels with the exception of The Rising. I purchased the audio book and boy! oh boy! I was like a kid in a candy store. I listened to this book in just one day. Every chance I got (lunch break, break, on the way to and from work), I listened. The narrator was exciting to listen to and the story was well written. Way to go! I'd give it ten stars If I could!
