Resumen del Editor

Was What's My Line TV star, media icon, and crack investigative reporter and journalist Dorothy Kilgallen murdered for writing a tell-all book about the JFK assassination? If so, is the main suspect in her death still at large?

These questions and more are answered in former CNN, ESPN, and USA Today legal analyst Mark Shaw's 25th book, The Reporter Who Knew Too Much. Through discovery of never-before-seen videotaped eyewitness interviews with those closest to Kilgallen and secret government documents, Shaw unfolds a "whodunit" murder mystery featuring suspects including Frank Sinatra, J. Edgar Hoover, Mafia Don Carlos Marcello, and a "mystery man" who may have silenced Kilgallen. All while by presenting through Kilgallen's eyes the most compelling evidence about the JFK assassinations since the House Select Committee on Assassination's investigation in the 1970s.

Called by the New York Post "the most powerful female voice in America" and by acclaimed author Mark Lane "the only serious journalist in America who was concerned with who killed John Kennedy and getting all of the facts about the assassination," Kilgallen's official cause of death, reported as an overdose of barbiturates combined with alcohol, has always been suspect since no investigation occurred despite the death scene having been staged. Shaw proves Kilgallen, a remarkable woman who broke the "glass ceiling" before the term became fashionable, was denied the justice she deserved - until now.

Well researched, important story

As other readers have said, the first half of this book is a “can’t put down” read. After that, I feel that the author has made all the important points and shared the bulk of his excellent research, and the book becomes repetitive. Building the possible cases against the various suspects could be handled in a much shorter, concise manner. Still, I feel that Dorothy’s story has a lot of relevance and I recommend this book.

well written and worth the listen

An in depth, well-researched, and well-written inside look on a very fascinating and significant voice. The narration was perfect.

Can't wait to get a hold of your other books!

At my age of 55, it's hard to take the fact that many wrongdoings today won't be brought to light until after I'm gone. But this amazing book gives me confidence that it's at least a possibility. I wasn't going to listen to the book because the title gave me no indication of the importance of this reporter who knew too much, but it was referenced in Lane's book. I hope others will learn this and read it as true history helpful to open many eyes to the fact that if one pushes for the truth, unless we're in it together as a people, it will never be brought to light.

A great and important book.

This is a must read(listen). Well written and equally brilliantly narrated. Perfect voice for this book. I now wish I could have met this icon. This brilliant investigative reporter. This remarkable fallen American heroine. Hail Dorothy! Thank you Mark.

Very informative, but a little repetitive

I was a toddler when JFK was assassinated, so my memories of Dorothy Kilgallen are from reruns of What's My Line. The author seems to have done his homework, but the repetition wasn't really necessary. The book could have used tighter editing; maybe more of a journalism style. Still, I'm glad to own this book. I learned a lot from it and so can others. It's important for young women to know the women who blazed a trail for them. Dorothy's legacy should be more than a TV show; it should be the total of all her accomplishments in her life, including her journalistic endeavors.

Along the lines of women's achievements, I had just been wondering why all the history books I was downloading seemed to be narrated by men. Gabra Zackman did a good job with the serious nature of the content, adding some characters' voices for a change of pace.

Finally, Dorothy's death being tied to her investigation of the assassination makes sense to me. I've read that Bobby Kennedy accepted the Warren Report and didn't want any further investigation into his brother's death. Maybe that bought him a few more years on this earth. I wish Dorothy had been able to reveal her findings. She paid a high price for wanting to get to the truth.

greatness uncovered

this year bullshitted a great deal of light on History that has been covered up about a very well like president. People thought Kennedy was the future and he was cut down on a tie young age. I thoroughly enjoyed the book. It shows that something's has been going on secretly for a long time.

I had a crush on Dorothy kilgallen

This book, like the assassination of JFK, is incomplete, but through no fault of its author.

Fascinating Read

I remember Dorothy Kilgallen well from watching WHAT’s MY LINE since I was a kid.
I always wondered about the death of Dorothy Kilgallen and if it was connected to the Kennedy assassination and what she knew. This book was even better and more informative than I imagined.
I highly recommend the book and the Audible is excellent.

Compelling. Don't skip this.

I'm really glad I read this. The JFK conspiracy can get tiresome but this was revealing in an entirely new way. Wish I had known about this amazing woman sooner.

Who is Dorothy Kilgallen

I personally had never heard of Dorothy, but the summary of the book interested me. I fell in love with her along the way. The writing was decent, however, often facts were repeated over and over and it was not necessary to do so. In the end was a decent listen.
