Resumen del Editor

She was the last of the great screen goddesses, a legendary blonde bombshell with a fairy-tale life that turned into a nightmare following the bizarre murder of her gangster lover, Johnny Stompanato, in 1958.

Author Eric Root met Lana Turner in 1971, serving as her makeup artist and hairstylist before becoming her escort, spokesman, lover, and confidant. Turner told Root everything there was to know about her life, including the secrets behind her greatest triumphs and tragedies, her many love affairs with Hollywood's leading men, the Stompanato scandal, and her estrangement from her daughter, Cheryl Crane.

This detailed, honest, heartwarming account reveals the real woman behind the Hollywood facade, as well as a tender friendship that endured both heaven and hell for 25 years.

Noble effort, worth listening to . . .

If you like Lana Turner, bios, and behind the scenes info, you'll like this book. As a first literary endeavor, Eric Root is to be commended for his efforts, his personality, his charm as a narrator, and his bravery in sharing and performing his story of his life with Ms. Turner. With a bit of polishing, delving, and coaching, a strong editor could have helped the author transform this book into a powerful story. Regarding performance issues critiqued in the prior review, I hope Mr. Root possesses the self confidence to ignore those comments. His reading voice is delightfully expressive; his cadence is slow, yet quite distinct. Whether or not he has reading, writing, or speech disabilities is irrelevant to his presentation. His narration and expression is easy to listen to! (Billy Bob Thornton, the famous and HIGHLY talented screenwriter and actor, has serious dyslexia AND dysgraphia. He didn't let these challenges impede his journey to fame). Mr. Root's story needs research and a closer look at many situations mentioned, but not expounded upon, to become a great story rather than a good one. Anyone truly interested in Lana Turner would enjoy this book and the author's experiences with her. Thank you, Eric Root.

The Author Reveals Ineptitude Of Writing & Reading

If you want to listen to someone read poorly about his years being Lana Turner's spiritual brother/stylist/hair dresser then you'll love it.

Seriously, this is not a good book and not worth the money unless you are a connoisseur of train wrecks. The basic story is that the author had one of those weird "close relationships" with Lana Turner and the book is far more about him than Turner. It becomes obvious early on that he had a ghost writer because he seems to be reading the words aloud for the first time. Also, he has a speech impediment that some may find hard to listen to.

It's three hours of your life you will totally want back.

Lana Turner Expose Done Well

Such an insightful and titillating audi book. One of few written by people who actually had a relationship with Lana Turner. Told with both love and resentment this diary went by way too fast leaving the listener wanting more. A must for her fans.
