A good overview of the domain

Wouldn’t be very interesting if you’re already familiar with languages and linguistics to some extent. It mentions all the classic studies on multilingualism and eye tracking experiments. But doesn’t touch any recent research.
The part about AI and mathematics includes only general words and shows that the author doesn’t have sufficient knowledge of the subject.

All in all it’s not boring, gives an overview of the domain but nothing more.

This book is a gem.

If you are interested in language, and especially if you are bilingual, this book is for you. Cutting edge language science told in an accessible and engaging and witty way, packed with examples and stories and data and insights. The connections to math and AI were also interesting. The pacing is good and enjoyable. I recommend it for experts and the curious.

Fantastic

I am sure I am one of many who always wanted to learn a second language and this book has been fascinating to understand why it is harder to learn a second language. :) and easier to learn the third. It is an intellectual listen which I enjoyed a lot.

Ich lieb Sprache lernen

Since I’ve been learning german and spanish, I have a knew found RESPECT for language acquisition and people who come from different places in the world and have to learn a language that they weren’t born speaking. Unless you’ve tried to learn a language at some point in your life, you have no idea the level of commitment, self-resilience, and self-confidence amongst other traits to prevail, in this book, she brilliantly illustrates the subtle psycholinguistic changes in the brain while acquiring a language, the benefits of acquiring a language, both socially and economically, the benefits of parallel processing and much more! This is a phenomenal book if you are interested in the benefits of learning a language and how it can both reshape how you perceive the world and how you express yourself in it!
