Acerca de esta escucha
Arlene has lived in a small town on the edge of nowhere Georgia her whole life. Now married to her long-time high school sweetheart, Tommy, Arlene is itching to start a family and become the mother she always dreamed of being. But that's proving more difficult than she thought, and Arlene is desperate to find something to do to keep her mind off things. And get some distance from her husband, who is increasingly getting on her nerves.
As the summer gives way to a chilly, lonesome fall up in the mountains of northern Georgia, she takes a part-time job bagging evidence at the local police department, which involves about twenty minutes of actual work, and the rest of her shift she reads over old cold cases. One in particular fascinates her: the mysterious deaths of three young brothers murdered on Deck River, followed by the suicide of Mitchell Wright, the prime suspect in the murders.
Arlene becomes obsessed with the case, and with the help of the police department's receptionist and a family friend of the Wrights, she sets out on discovering the truth. She can't help but feel that if she solves the case of the Broderick boys' deaths, she'll find her footing in her young marriage and maybe find what she's been looking for all along.

"An increasingly gripping southern-crime tale . . . Readers who enjoyed the mysterious, character-driven plot of Where the Crawdads Sing or the atmospheric Georgia setting of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil will find an enjoyable page-turner here."—Booklist Starred Review

Great Story, Narrator distracts from that
I almost stopped listening after the first hour. The Narrator(s) were irritating. Maybe it was deliberate because both the male and female narrators were similar…the inflection of their voices didn’t match what they were saying. Inappropriately so. Questions always sounded like statements. The tone of voice from both of them was devoid of emotion, especially the male narrator. Made me think it wasn’t being read by a human. The story line kept me listening despite that…I wanted to know who did it. Not everyone will get past the narrators…. I suggest you listen to a sample before you buy.

Small town crime
I feel as though the book was very predictable, there was a slight twist at the end, but it was very slow.

The great story telling.
This book has a lot to offer. You had so many different connections and emotions that ran through the entire book. While it was a tragic story of small town Georgia life and fiction it felt real.

Complete Waste of Time
Worst book ever! Not one redeeming quality. Terrible characters, plot, story, and ending. And the women reading did an awful job as well, not that she had much to work with. Yuck.

Poor book, no plot, worst narrator ever
I cannot finish this book. There is no reason in this book at all. And that narrator, OMG. The worst I have ever heard.
