I almost got whiplash from all the twists and turns! gave me FREIDA MCFADDEN vibes but better!!

Modern “Hand that Rock the Cradle”

The story was very similar to the movie “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle“ with an interesting twist at the end I didn’t see coming.

First time I’ve read this author, I like the modern story.

I gave The Night Nanny by Nelle LaMarr 3.5 ⭐️

When I read, I really value believability, and this one started off strong. The characters felt realistic, and the storyline pulled me in right away. However, as the plot unfolded, it took a turn that felt a bit too far-fetched—especially with the way the characters were revealed to have been previously connected. That shift made it harder for me to stay fully invested.
One aspect I did find interesting was the parallel between the main character and her father. He was judged for his past actions, yet the main character ultimately found herself making choices that mirrored his crimes. For me, it really highlighted “the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree,” which added a compelling layer of irony to the story.
Once everything was revealed, I found myself becoming disconnected from the narrative. The twist, instead of enhancing the story, pulled me out of it—and that’s what ultimately landed this book at 3.5 stars for me.

Give me more postpartum/early motherhood years thrillers!!!! So fun!

4.5 rounded up - there are definitely some stock characters in the cast and the mother didn't seem like a real person (she acted more in service of the plot than honestly) but it was gripping, excellently paced, and delicious. As a (somewhat) new mom, I can't resist fun stories set during the tumultuous postpartum period. I definitely recommend, this was a blast!
