Some books go on too and you find yourself eager to finish it so that you can start the next book. this is not one of When the book ends you will want to stay with the characters longer.

Interesting book

Interesting. Good plot. Well written held interest. Fun glimpse of genuine readers. Good and well drawn characters.

I loved this book.

I am a huge fan of Ruth Hogan. I have enjoyed all of her books that I read (listened to). This book is about a baby that was abandoned at a Fortune Teller's tent when was just a small infant. The story of her parentage is what keeps the story rolling. Two timelines are involved, Starting with 1972 and then present day. The reveal of the parents is unexpected in IMO. The minor characters are really interesting, with great names, Diamond,Ruby,Treasure. Great dogs in the story too.
I recommend this audio recording.

Trigger warning

This story is both magnificent and heartbreaking. At first, I had a little trouble keeping all the characters straight and had to someone re-reading, but it moved along nicely after that. I do have to issue a trigger warning here: the story has some scenes of animal cruelty that will disturb some and that almost made me abandon the book altogether. I understand why it was chosen as a plot point, but could really have done without it.
