Ok ok so like I’m bursting with emotions and like can’t wait for book 2 of this awesome series. I say this with conviction I NEVER read a book where a plethora of differences and cultures melted so well together. I can see myself in these pages… I can see the marvelous light that’s inside me. Thank you for creating this world Dhonielle Clayton!

It was ok

First wasn’t the best but it got better listening to made you able to imagine the characters voices

An inclusive take on a magic school

Delightful and light, the Marvellers will seem very reminiscent of Potter to longtime fans, from themes to situations and writing style, but with new welcome twists of being very aware of its multicultural audience. Ella, the main character, struggles with challenges of integration into longstanding institutions, and this book has an interesting take on African American folk magic. Perfect for Potter fans wanting something new and more inclusive.

The characters were amazing!!!!!!!!!

I feel like the climax at the end could have been drawn out more cause it felt a little rushed but overall one of the best reads I’ve ever read

I am reading this book with my granddaughter. She is reading the book and I am listening to the audio because I work this gives us something to talk about I enjoy the book and I am looking forward to the next one my granddaughter loves this series

Storytelling with a sprinkle of truth

I absolutely loved the fantastic world of the Marvellers. The author did a great job of sprinkling in bits of truth about African-American history, while not making the real history stand out from the fantastic story.

Fantastic fun

A great detailed fantasy with lots of detail and establishment of characters. The author has a very descriptive mind and creates a world that is fabulous for young readers and adults alike.

Read this book!!!

**4.5** I already can’t wait for book 2!!! Such a whimsical setting, very Harry Potter-esque, but a more refreshing take on magical schools. Ella Durand is such a wonderful main character, and the side characters are super lovable. We love a grumpy gal bestie. There are enough questions that make you want the second book in your hands ASAP, but also enough answers that made the ending of this one pretty satisfying. The perfect concoction!
