Resumen del Editor

A New York Times Bestseller

The riveting story of a heroic girl who fights for her belief that water should be for everyone.

Minni lives in the poorest part of Mumbai, where access to water is limited to a few hours a day and the communal taps have long lines. Lately, though, even that access is threatened by severe water shortages and thieves who are stealing this precious commodity—an act that Minni accidentally witnesses one night. Meanwhile, in the high-rise building where she just started to work, she discovers that water streams out of every faucet and there’s even a rooftop swimming pool. What Minni also discovers there is one of the water mafia bosses. Now she must decide whether to expose him and risk her job and maybe her life. How did something as simple as access to water get so complicated?

Water Privilege Revealed

An endearing and vital telling of what many people go through to get water. This story is told thru the eyes of a clever and kind 12 year old who must grow up fast due to unexpected family challenges in Mumbai India. Here in the US most of us are privileged to have water on demand from multiple taps in our homes. The author shares another reality in a compelling and charming way. I love that Minnie, the protagonist, is a poet. Thank you.

AMAZING book

The performance was great it talks about the real thing that happened and it goes off with a happy ending but I just wanna know how he got in trouble or caught by the police. They didn’t add that in, but that is fine. I still love the book and love the though, Fanchers, and I hope that he lives the best cooking life possible, and the author of a best poem, or tap, making life if it was real. The story overall was great.

Loved it!

I loved this amazing story based on factual water shortage in Mumbai. This fictional story is interlocked by amazing character development and beautiful detail.

Loved it!

As a teacher of middle school students who has been teaching about world cultures for many years, this book is on point! So many wonderful themes about justice, inequity, and courage. The story also offers opportunities to explore Indian culture: Hinduism/Islam, Ganesha, dowry, caste, Raksha Bandhan, roti, the disparity between rich and poor, and most of all the love of family. The voices of the characters are so thoughtful and believable. Other connections around mental health: breathing, affirmations, relying on friends, journaling, poetry- so good!! Bravo Varsha! Narrated perfectly by Reena!

Fabulous

Readers will find themselves somewhere in the book questioning who they are, what their hopes and dreams are and more…

The figurative language and descriptions brought my imagination into full bloom.

I would definitely recommend the book.
