Resumen del Editor

Uncover the secret history of humanity!

Elisa Hill is a myth hunter, an adventurer who seeks out the truth behind the legends of the past, and it's a job she was born into. Her parents were myth hunters as well, and the one legend they could never prove was the myth of the lost continent of Lemuria. Now Elisa has the opportunity to finish the work her parents began. But the secrets of this lost civilization hold great value for a sinister secret society and a ruthless assassin, and both will stop at nothing - not even murder - to gain their prize. Elisa must rely on friends and unlikely allies in order to make it to the lost continent. Because if she fails, those same secrets could spell doom for mankind!

Nice story with twists at just the right time.

What made the experience of listening to The Lost Continent the most enjoyable?

I'll be honest, at first I thought it was just an Indian Jones copy. While I do love adventure and mystery side of the story it seemed to be very similar to Indie. However, as soon as I thought it was just a copy, everything changed. The whole book was nicely written because it followed that classic adventure plot line, but it's its own way - well done!

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Absolutely. I am a reader who tries to anticipate what is going to happen next and then get mad when it doesn't happen. Every time I thought I had the plot figured out, it would turn in a new direction.

What does Caroline McLaughlin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She has a great voice and does a fine job of narrating the story. This is one of the few times where I did not hear any mispronunciations of words. She was steadily great at reading.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I guess it would be the part of the book where Elisa is talking to Max right after she came back from losing the tablet.

Tomb Raider becomes Indiana Jones

Where does The Lost Continent rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

It ranks around high-middle of the pack. An enjoyable listen, pretty good narration.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

The plot kept a good fast pace, would make a good action movie. I'd have liked a little more character development, books are a good venue for that.

What about Caroline McLaughlin’s performance did you like?

Clarity and enunciation was good. Some foreign accents could have been more distinctive.

A Female Indiana Jones in a Mythical World.

If you could sum up The Lost Continent in three words, what would they be?

Dangerous Treasure Hunting.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Adding the shape shifter plus some of the other mythical features (statues coming to life) makes the story more exciting and dynamic. Adding the other worldly dimension was done very plausibly.

Which scene was your favorite?

Personally, I liked the scene where Stubby is threatening Seth with a gun and Seth responds by throwing a knife and cutting off Stubby's hand. That was well written and kind of awesome.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

This is an exciting, adventure packed book. Caroline McLaughlin gives another great performance. Possibly because it is an action book, it is a little weak on character development. It is a solid entertaining book, but it will not move you.

Any additional comments?

This book contains graphic descriptions of violence. I received this book for free in exchange for an honest review.

Indiana Elise

Any additional comments?

I enjoyed the blend of myth and reality provided in this book. Elisa Hill is a myth hunter, simply put, she is an archaeologist who looks for the things we don't think would be real in ancient history but might be. I liked the supernatural elements in this book and the sword play was interesting. You wouldn't think that people would go around fighting with swords in modern times, but I liked it.

Tomb Raider type adventure

An action adventure story with a touch of the supernatural. Elisa Hill is a myth hunter, an archaeologist who is searching for some ancient tablets that will lead her to the lost continent of Lemuria. Of course, as in any good adventure, she encounters adversaries, challenges and dangers along the way. Some what reminiscent of Tomb Raider/Indiana Jones this story holds no great surprises. Having said that, it is still a quick, entertaining read and the inclusion of a little supernatural, in the form of a Kitsune, was a bit different. Even though it is a plot driven story, the characters are likeable and have some depth to them. I found that the interplay and slight sexual tension between Hill and Davalos gave their characters some reality. The fight scenes are a little gory and implausible, especially in their weapon choices (mainly swords) since it is set in modern times, but then again it is fiction. If Indian Jones can survive a huge rolling rock then why not be able to slice a bullet in half with a sword! The narration fit the book well in the most part, but some of the accents were a little off. A swift walk on the wild side of mythology

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Elisa's search for validation is a short swift plunge moving from the Caribbean, to india, and finally, on to southern Japan. Her parent's spent the lives search for the lost continent of Lemuria and know she has a chance to finally find it. The question is, will she live through the experience?

What did you like best about this story?

A large cast of characters with their own secrets and back stories highlight this short tale that is easy to complete in a single afternoon or evening. The author and narrator make it easy to place each of the characters and their story.

Have you listened to any of Caroline McLaughlin’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

This is the first and only performance of Caroline McLaughlin that i have listened to. She does a good job conveying the urgency and excitement of the story with resorting to loud exclamations or rushing through text. Very easy to listen to and follow.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Being only a little over three hours this is a great self-contained story for a short afternoon trip or a single evening at home. I listened to it all in a single afternoon.

Any additional comments?

If you enjoy pulp writing reading by an experienced and talented performer look no further. A captivating story in a very accessible format.
