One of the most crippling lies I carried as a divorced single mother was the expectation that he would show up the way I thought he should. I didn’t realize it at the time, but that expectation was poisoning my mind and stealing my peace. I was waiting on support that was never guaranteed, taken away, or dangled over our heads through emotional manipulation, and the weight of that hope deferred was breaking me.

When I finally released that expectation and placed it fully in God’s hands, something shifted. I stopped parenting from a place of disappointment and started raising my children in hope. God became the Provider I had been subconsciously demanding someone else to be.

Outstanding and profound Truth

I first discovered Dr. Chris Thurman at a Fearless mom lecture that is put on by our church Lake Hills. When I heard him speak on just a few subjects in this book I was deeply touched. I knew I just had to read it. His book has helped me in so many ways but the most important would be growing a deeper connection with the Lord our God. I have shared this book with as many people as I can because I believe there is something for everyone in this book. I will be reading it again very soon as I know this is an ongoing battle to practice humility and not believe the father of lies. Thank you Dr. Thurman from the bottom of my heart.
