An easy book to get into

I enjoyed listening to this story. I could related to the characters. You won’t be disappointed.

Lovely story in two time periods.

Enjoyed the story and actually got to listen to it while I was on vacation in Scotland, which made it really special!

Excellent narration and fun story

Scotland Castles, check. Ghosts, check. Then and now stories with likable (except that daft Effie) characters, check. Wars? Check. Olden Times and Modern Times? check. Deception and treachery? check. I did end up listening all night instead of sleeping because I go so into the story.

Romance? yes it's there. The love story for the 1300 century was important and key to the story, but the modern ones were not necessary except to add tension. If you want your main characters to find love and have the author expand on their newfound feelings being awakened, you'll enjoy this. If you love Scottish and British accents and ken how wonderful turns of phrase back then really sets the scene, aye, you'll enjoy this narration.

Some still harbor hope and patriotism despite hardship and loss. What a tragic time period.

I liked the descriptive writing. I needed more from our local ghost rather than just a few scenes. I enjoyed the changes and growth the main,modern day characters showed. I wanted more of the castle’s background to show up in the hystorical pursuits. The old woman Marin could have been developed into a stronger character and shared stories of old to connect the generations, rather than all the secrecy. It would have injected some important parallels into the current day struggles of the women.

It kept my attention all the way through…excellent storytelling! I loved learning about Scottish history and the love stories mixed into the story.
