Resumen del Editor

The Mars maestro, the single dad, and a wish list....

Chet

Boy, am I lucky! Finding a living situation with a houseful of passionate scientists just before the holidays is ideal in every possible way. As the newest member of the Script Club, I feel it’s important to step up and tackle the to-do list my friends would prefer to avoid. Item one: Address the tutoring request from the neighborhood-hottie-slash-single-dad on the next block. I’ve got this!

Or do I?

Handsome, older, sporty gentlemen intimidate me. And Mr. McSwoony doesn’t like the holidays. This may be a daunting task.

Sam

What do you do when a new neighbor shows up on your doorstep with cookies and a wacky plan to spread holiday cheer? I don’t need cheer, but I could use help with some of the experiments my son wants to try. I know football, not science. Hopefully, I can talk Chet into a mutually beneficial trade. The only snag is that I’m seriously attracted to my local Mars expert. He’s unintentionally charming…in the very best way.

Don’t quote me, but maybe this holiday elf with thick glasses and a mile-long list might be exactly what I need.

The Holiday List is an MM bisexual, geek/jock romance with a holiday twist featuring a lovable scientist and a single dad who’s probably on the naughty list!

Awe!! so sweet

This is just the sweetest story. A touch of geek and the football referee, makes for a sweet Holiday tale. Nothing better than the HEA of a Christmas Romance.... Great addition to this series. Alexander Cendese does a great job bring this book and its characters to life. well worth the credit and your time to listen.

Great when I read it, even better when I listened

The audiobook for The Holiday List came out pretty quickly after I read the ebook but I listened to it as if I hadn’t just read it. What I mean is that Alexander Cendese’s performance of the story was such that it was like I didn’t already know the story and I listened to it intently. He has the perfect voices for the characters in this series and I love how he puts so much emotion into the story.

Below is what I said when I reviewed the ebook just over a week ago:

I really enjoy single dad stories; add in the Christmas holidays and it’s a big win for me. While this book is part of a great series, I think it can be enjoyed as a standalone story. You should check out the entire series though, because the other books are great, too.

Sam is kind of a grumpy single dad who doesn’t do any kind of decorating for the holidays. He insists that his son gets enough of that at his papa’s (Sam’s ex). Chet is the newest addition to The Script Club group that started out as a club for roommates sharing a house. The other guys helped Chet out of a bad housing situation so he volunteered to do several things that none of the others wanted to do. One of those things was to approach their neighbor whose son they consider to be a bit of a handful. Turns out that son was into science and just needed someone to give him a guiding hand.

Chet not only agrees to help Sam’s son, Linc, with scientific experiments, he also gets grumpy Sam to agree to let him decorate his house for Christmas. Chet is quickly in lust with Sam but it turns into much more after he gets to know Linc and after Chet and Sam are stuck together in a cabin after a big snow storm.

This was a quick read but I loved every bit of it. It has great holiday feels and I loved watching Sam change how he felt about Christmas and family.

A copy of this audiobook was provided to me at my request but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

Good story. Good narration.

This was a sweet, slightly sappy, holiday addition to the script club series. I am a Christmas Grinch myself so I could relate to Sam's ambivalence towards the holidays, but Chet would be very hard to resist in Christmas elf mode...

Alexander Cendese's performance was a great way to absorb a sweet holiday story.

short and sweet

I am a fan of this author and The Script Club series. So far each of the couples have had a connection as friends, siblings, or roommates. While it is true that Chet has moved into the house with the previous geeks in the series, he is really new and we haven’t learned about him at all. Between the length of the book and the unfamiliarity with the mc’s it makes this seem like a bonus holiday story. Though we do get to see some of the other guys briefly.

Well, I know I am a sucker for holiday stories, and this one really melted my heart. Chet is awkward, most of the geeks in this series are. He has followed his family tree into science and is working on a Mars project. We learn that his family wasn’t super close and he was home-schooled. There wasn’t a lot of interaction especially with kids, so though he wants to help his neighbor with his son, he doesn’t really want to be hands on. Unless it means being handsy with Sam, the neighbor himself.

Sam is a referee who part-time parents with his ex. The script club guys believe him to be the stereotypical straight guy, but that ex refers to ex-husband. Sam has been out as bi for a long time and he is really drawn to the bumbling and helpful Chet. They are total opposites in terms of confidence, and in holiday spirit. Chet wants to spruce up Sam’s house, since Sam is kind of a grinch in those regards. While there Chet meets Sam’s son and while he is not a kid person, he is a science person and they connect pretty quickly.

Things quickly turn homey for the the two and Linc, Sam’s son. Chet spends so much time with Sam that it’s one of the reason’s we rarely see the rest of the club. Through Thanksgiving they are in constant company, but when Christmas time arrives and Sam isn’t off work due to his sprained arm, Chet wonders how they can keep going.

Chet’s insecurity and Sam’s realization that he wants more than just his career and time with his son were heartbreaking and so sweet, respectively. They kind of melted my heart in a short amount of time. Alexander Cendese does a good job narrating though his geeks are all starting to sound the same. Overall, I really enjoyed this listen and recommend the book and the whole series.

Another great Lane Hayes story!

I love Alexander Cendese’s voice for Sam and he nailed Chet’s personality! He puts great emotion into his performance.

This is another great story in this series. This is a quick, low angst quasi-holiday book. The rest of the guys in the Script Club appear briefly in the story so this could be read as a standalone.

Chet and Sam are a good match. They are complete opposites – jock/nerd; scrooge/happy little elf; physically small/large. Although their relationship escalates quickly, it didn’t feel forced. They are instantly attracted to each other but try to refrain as neither of them is really looking for a relationship. They don’t last very long holding out…and the epilogue was perfect!

I love Chet’s relationship with Linc and how they bonded. I also appreciated that Sam’s ex wasn’t a bad character…the potential was there.

I’m loving this series and I’m just sitting here waiting for books for Tommy and Holden.
