Reseñas de la Crítica

"Seth Numrich narrates this classic Jazz Age novel with an introduction by Jesmyn Ward, foreword by Eleanor Lanahan, and afterword by James L.W. West III. The story follows the mysterious Jay Gatsby through the eyes of Nick Carraway, and Nick’s cousin, Daisy. Numrich captures Nick’s optimism and Daisy’s softness with his lively narration. Excelling at long passages full of winding phrases, Numrich brings this novel, now 100 years old, to life. Ward’s illuminating introduction prepares listeners for a new experience with Gatsby. Lanahan, Fitzgerald’s granddaughter, shares her own history with the text in a sure, comforting voice. West provides context on Fitzgerald’s composition and text in a serious, gravelly voice. This audiobook, which includes the author’s final revisions, is an exquisite listening experience."

This production by far exceeded my expectations in capturing the essence of the story. The narrator does a superb job giving each character a voice and personality. The recording is great, too. No abrupts cuts or extremely short pauses between paragraphs or chapters. All in all, an excellent audiobook I'd definitely listen to again. And the notes before and after the actual story make this edition unique and very interesting.

Excellent Story, Remarkable Narration!

Amazing book and wonderful reading of the book! An insightful look at the beauty and ugliness of the roaring 20’s.

Narration was top-notch, the story was brilliant without being overly convolutive. It is quite short which makes it succint. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone, young and old, because it is a beautifully put together piece of modern literature written with a refreshing style and hand.

A pleasure

I had never read “The Great Gatsby” before. I was in certain classes in school which required a different set of books than everyone else. I greatly admire Seth Numrich, and the way he’s able to bring out the personality of every character he reads for, including the story itself. That’s why I watched the most recent movie adaptation out of curiosity and then leapt at the chance to hear Mr. Numrich read the original story. While I can’t say the story was my cup of tea (I can be picky about these things), I still appreciate what it was meant to convey, and I adored the way Mr. Numrich performed it. I love that there was even some singing involved. I hadn’t expected that.
