Resumen del Editor

From New York Times best-selling author of the acclaimed McCabe and Savage series comes an electrifying new thriller of taut and twisted suspense.

On a freezing December night, Hannah Reindel leaps to her death from an old railway bridge into the rushing waters of the river below. Yet the real cause of death was trauma suffered 12 years earlier, when Hannah was plucked from a crowd of freshman girls at a college fraternity party, drugged, and then viciously assaulted by six members of the college football team.

Those responsible have never faced or feared justice. Until now. A month after Hannah's death, Joshua Thorne - former Holden College quarterback and now a Wall Street millionaire - is found murdered, his body bound to a bed and brutally mutilated.

When a second attacker dies in mysterious circumstances, detectives Mike McCabe and Maggie Savage know they must find the killer before more of Hannah's attackers are executed. But they soon realize these murders may not be simple acts of revenge but something far more sinister.

The Girl on the Bridge is a compelling and harrowing tale of suspense that will not easily be forgotten.

Good story, poor narrator.

The story flows well and is easy to read, but this narrator is stiff and amateurish. I recommend reading rather than listening to this title.

corny

Corny, plus the narrator is not a very good actor. I won't buy any more books narrated by him.

Enjoying the series

Wish this book had a little more detail about McCabe and Savages developing relationship. The murder was interesting. Overall, a decent book and reader.

Not For The Melancholy

Sad story. Good plotting. Well read. Not much mystery but that's alright, there's some decent adventure and high craft writing.

Another Hayman/Mendel Masterpiece

The Savage and McCabe Sirius is my absolute favorite. I was so excited to discover another one I hadn't listened to yet! Of course this one did not disappoint either. Although I figured out who did it pretty early on, as usual the journey was still amazing.

Excellent addition to the McCabe & Savage series 5 Stars!

Oh my goodness! This is such a good book. It held me captivated the entire length.
A young woman (Hannah Reindel) goes to a fraternity party with a friend (not her boyfriend - she makes this very clear to him). She is drugged by the most popular man in the fraternity who then rapes her and invites five of his friends to also partake.
Twelve years later she's married to her friend when she jumps from a train bridge and commits suicide, she has never been able to put that night behind her.
Weeks later when someone begins killing the rapists all clues point to the husband (Evan Fisher). Don't think you have it figured out because although it does get a little predictable towards the end, it's a really good book. Very suspenseful and very entertaining. I also like the way this author keeps the relationship between Savage and McCabe in the background. You know they live together but it really has no impact on the story.
Stephen Mendel does an excellent job narrating the entire series.
This book and the other four in this series are all HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Have enjoyed the entire series, however!

I purchased the first book in Audible's first in a series sale. James Hayman was unknown to me. My however refers to explicit sex scenes, especially in the first book. I would not listen to any of his books with others in the room. Ordinarily I would not have continued with this series, but the sex scenes did seem relevant to the story. Fortunately, each book gets better with less reliance on explicit sex. His writing is a pleasant change of pace from the current trend of psychological thrillers, he writes nicely plotted murder mysteries with a likable recurring cast of characters.

My first Audible

Interesting story and characters. Depicts how people make mistakes early in their lives without realizing the possible long term effects and also how although people may work hard towards setting up a perfect life for themselves that everyone encounters life issues. I like how the narrator uses different intonations in his voice to depict the various characters.

McCabe and Savage Thrillers

Plot. Police procedural series based in Providence, Rhode Island. The cases are who-done-it murder mysteries with twists, some obvious, some surprising.

Liked. Clever plots, no explicit sex, no offensive language. These are murder mysteries, and some scenes are a bit grizzly but nothing gratuitous. There are five novels as of this writing, giving a nice long listen of nearly 50 hours. But, each book has a beginning-middle-end. Start with The Cutting for character continuity.

Not so hot. Narration is a bit stilted and unnatural, but listenable. No trouble discerning who is speaking to whom. Bumped the speed to 1.5.

Written by James Hayman and narrated by Stephen Mendel. All novels in the area of 10 hours of listening in unabridged audiobook format, released from 2015 through 2017 by HarperAudio.
