Great story - TERRIBLE narration and editing.

Do they even listen to these things before they release them? The story is actually really good - I just wish I would have read it and not listened to it. The narrator has the most dull - monotone voice. It was so difficult to listen to. Not only that but the editing was horrendous. Right in the middle of a sentence they splice in a word that is a completely different tone and volume. There is no way a professional did this. Do yourself a favor on this one and READ this…. Don’t buy this Audible.

great story!

amazing storytelling!!! The only thing that would have made this book better was a different narrator. it seemed patched together at times...sometimes the word spacing felt sped up.

Very Good Story but ...

The story itself is very good, kept my interest throughout and had a good pace to it.
The sound quality and narration leave a lot to be desired. In a few places it sounds like it's being read through a cell phone on speaker with the person standing across the room. The narration is very robotic and sounded like Siri reading a story with bad punctuation. It's pretty off-putting.
I did finish it because the story was interesting enough to just deal with it, but might be better to just read the book yourself.

Awful, awful narration.

Couldn't make it past the first chapter. Narration was horrifically stilted and monotonous and set my teeth on edge.

Great story yet poor narration

Gut wrenching novel. I have never enjoyed a book that I have hated the narration before. At the beginning of the book it was very hard for me to listen to and started to doubt the author’s writing. I then realized it was the narration that I hated. The accent was inconsistent and the editing was horrible. However, those last 10 chapters had me bawling my eyes out. The author depicted the characters in such a way that I truly felt their feelings. As it ended, I knew how it would play out but to hear it described made me feel like I was there. As a parent, it was a tough listen, but I would highly recommend this book!

Did not see the plot coming

A little slow in the beginning but pulls you in for a very well written ride full of emotion and heartbreak

Overall, the book was fine. I didn’t feel that the “plot twist” was really impactful, because I don’t feel that there was any hint dropping leading up to that point that made me want to reread it and say “oh, I could’ve guessed it from that!” I think it left a lot to be desired. And the ending was not very satisfying. Also, the narration of this audiobook is really strange. The quality of the audio is pretty poor, spliced together in a lot of places, and the way the book was read often made it confusing especially at first.

Wish I had read this one

Well written, fascinating story. Completely marred for me by poor editing. Probably the worst of any audio book I've ever listened to. It's distracting when the rhythm of the story is suddenly assaulted by a single word dropped in with a completely different pitch and tone, or a sentence patched together so tightly that two of the words run into each other. And although the annoying, slightly whiny, almost monotone millennial voice was in keeping with the main character, it was incredibly annoying. I have turned off books with fewer problems than this one, so I guess that speaks to the quality of the writing and the story. Still, I wish I had bought the book instead of the audio.

Read this.

I never give 5 stars, but this book is 5 stars. Just interesting writing with such a shocking ending. Makes you think and think. I loved this book.
