Ernest Hemingway
Acerca de esta escucha
Ernest Hemingway was an American novelist and short-story writer, widely considered one of the greatest writers of the 20th century. Hemingway's writing style was characterized by its spare and concise prose, and he was known for his ability to convey deep emotions through simple, direct language. Hemingway's most famous works include "The Sun Also Rises," "A Farewell to Arms," and "The Old Man and the Sea."
Hemingway's writing often dealt with themes of love, war, and the search for meaning in a complex and often cruel world. His characters were often disillusioned and haunted by the traumas of their past, but they remained resilient in the face of adversity. Hemingway's work was influential not only for its literary style, but also for its depiction of the human condition in a time of great social and political upheaval. Hemingway won the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1954, and his legacy as a writer and cultural icon continues to be felt today.
"In Our Time" is a collection of short stories and vignettes published in 1925, that explores themes of war, loss, and the human condition through a series of brief, often fragmented glimpses into the lives of its characters.
"The Sun Also Rises" published in 1926, that follows a group of expatriates in the aftermath of World War I as they search for meaning and purpose in their lives.
"The Torrents of Spring" published in 1926, that parodies the writing style and themes of Sherwood Anderson's novel "Dark Laughter."
Here is the ultimate Audiobook celebration of this great enduring artist narrated by Emmy-nominated actor and author Geoffrey Giuliano.

The Old Man and the Sea is one of Hemingway's most enduring works. Told in language of great simplicity and power, it is the story of an old Cuban fisherman, down on his luck, and his supreme ordeal, a relentless, agonizing battle with a giant marlin far out in the Gulf Stream. Here Hemingway recasts, in strikingly contemporary style, the classic theme of courage in the face of defeat, of personal triumph won from loss.

The story follows the flamboyant Brett and the hapless Jake as they journey from the wild nightlife of 1920s Paris to the brutal bullfighting rings of Spain with a motley group of expatriates. His second major venture into nonfiction (after Death in the Afternoon, 1932), Green Hills of Africa is Ernest Hemingway's lyrical journal of a month on safari in the great game country of East Africa, where he and his wife, Pauline, journeyed in December of 1933. Hemingway's well-known interest in - and fascination with - big-game hunting is magnificently captured in this evocative account of his trip.

Published in 1945, Cannery Row focuses on the acceptance of life as it is: both the exuberance of community and the loneliness of the individual. Drawing on his memories of the real inhabitants of Monterey, California, Steinbeck interweaves the stories of Doc, Henri, Mack and his boys, and the other characters in this world where only the fittest survive, to create a novel that is at once one of his most humorous and most poignant works.

"Of the place where he had been a boy he had written well enough. As well as he could then." So thought a dying writer in an early version of The Snows of Kilimanjaro. The writer was, of course, Ernest Hemingway. The place was the Michigan of his boyhood, where he remembered himself as Nick Adams. The now-famous "Nick Adams" stories show a memorable character growing from child to adolescent to soldier, veteran, writer, and parent - a sequence closely paralleling the events of Hemingway's life.

Historia
The Sun Also Rises is a 1926 novel by American writer Ernest Hemingway, his first, that portrays American and British expatriates who travel from Paris to the Festival of San Fermín in Pamplona to watch the running of the bulls and the bullfights. The Sun Also Rises is one of Ernest Hemingway's masterpieces and a classic example of his spare but powerful writing style. A poignant look at the disillusionment and angst of the post-World War I generation, the novel introduces two of Hemingway's most unforgettable characters: Jake Barnes and Lady Brett Ashley.

poor narration
Very disappointed by the narrator. It sounded like when you read aloud in Junior High.

I am a fan of Hemingway but this reader is not great
This reader is almost completely expressionless and in some places reads like an elementary school student. It’s sad that there are no other options for this book.

Narrator sucked
Made it a boring lifeless listen. Story’s are the story’s guess I would have been better to just buy the books and read them.

The story and the language.
Hemingway is peerless. His selection, combination and sequencing of words make his books only one jot and a tittle less impactful than actually being there in person. Masterful!

the monotone nature of the narrator
I never got too far into the "collection" stories due to the horrible narration. monotone, no change in vocal pitch for excitement or emphasis. it's the second time I've been burned by a collection due to lousy narration. Only get books narrated by performers.
