Resumen del Editor

There’s a devil on my shoulder, and every Monday morning she announces herself. She’s this delicious flame in my chest, a flurry of whispered suggestions in my ear. Suggestions I ignore...because every single one of them is about Ben Tate.

Ben—stealer of clients, evictor of homeless women, nemesis. Sitting across from me every damn Monday with his lovely, smug smile and his too-perfect teeth, the living symbol of everything I hate.

It’s been my policy to avoid him, but when a case comes into the firm—one that could change his career and mine—I make an exception. It means weekends and evenings by his side. It means enduring his smirk and his smart mouth and never taking the bait.

Until the night Ben says “Beg"...and that devil on my shoulder decides to make a few demands of her own.

Gemm & Ben

Wow this book really surprised me. It was so well written and had intricate pieces of the storyline weaved in to one perfect story. The characters were realistic with flaws but also redeeming qualities.

Gemma had a crappy past relationship that really affects how she treats her relationship with Ben. I am glad we got to see parts of that relationship within the story. Ben was so swoony. You learn throughout the story about his past and present feelings for Gemma.

A Hot Enemies to Lovers Slow Burn!

Elizabeth O’Roark knows how to give me exactly what I crave in an enemies to lovers. Phew, and that slow burn. She does an incredible job delivering a slow burn filled with delicious tension. I was hooked on every word, counting down the minutes until the tension combusted and boy when it did, these two were Kindle melting hot! I absolutely loved Ben and Gemma’s story!

Stellar narration of a sizzling enemies-to-lovers

Samantha gives an engaging performance as Gemma. This story is about women in corporate America, working in a male-dominated profession - law. Samantha puts us right inside Gemma’s head feeling her frustrations and anger at the patriarchal system of the company she works for. We simply feel her hate for Ben turn to love. As always Samantha brings her “A” game on the male voice front, easily flipping between all the characters' different voices. Such amazing skills producing a seemingly effortless narration which you just know is way harder work than she makes it sound.

I loved how this story tackled the very real issue of gender discrimination in the workplace and gives us an authentic POV. There was no sugar coating or over-exaggeration just what felt like the plain hard facts all to the backdrop of a sizzling hot enemies-to-lovers romance. It just makes me mad that this kind of thing is still happening. I got all mad about Ben in Chapter 46. Seriously, Elizabeth I really couldn’t see how you could bring him back from that. Buuuuuuuut of course you did and the ending was perfect. I was kind of hoping for a trip to Iceland for the two of them, but I did love their HEA.

If you are looking for an audiobook with toptastic narration and a story with great banter, sizzle, and emotion, pick THE DEVIL YOU KNOW.

Enemies to Lovers Office Edition

I absolutely loved this story and the audiobook performed by Samantha Brentmoor took it to another level. Solo Samantha is a whole vibe and I'm here for it 👏👏 she voiced every character and I would happily listen to this one over and over again.

Elizabeth gives us single POV, which I know isn't for everyone but I adored this take on it. Gemma wants to believe in the Hallmark love story...but life has shown her time and time again that's not the case, so of course her guard is up constantly...and she tends to think the worst of men. And Gemma's most recent target is Ben, the lawyer and partner at her firm who stole a major client on his first day and has proceeded to taunt her with his handsome face for two years.

Ben is one of the most swoon worthy MMC's I've read lately...to live inside his brain. The way he pays attention, the way he cares for Gemma and the term actions speak louder than words is quintessential Ben.

Excuse me I have a lot of O'Roark stories to tackle.

Workplace Enemies to Lovers Perfection!

The Devil You Know by Elizabeth O'Roark was a workplace enemies to lovers romance that brought the witty banter, crazy hot sexual tension, and all the swoon! This book in audio was AMAZING! I had the opportunity to read the book, and have been anticipating Samantha Brentmoor performing the audio. This audio is mainly solo Samantha, and she is an absolute rockstar! She deserves all the praise and is fierce, powerful perfection in her performance as Gemma, a female lawyer trying to make partner in a male-dominated field. Gemma’s character encompasses so many emotional layers, and Samantha’s ability to capture Gemma’s strong-willed, determined yet vulnerable persona in her performance was spot on. (Yes, lady!) Samantha also brings all the swoon, confidence, and charm to Ben’s loyal and devoted character in her sexy male voice, making me melt every time. (Love him!) Also, I love that surprise opening chapter from another narrator favorite of mine!

Overall, I LOVED this book! If you are a fan of a workplace romance with two spicy hot lawyers that love to hate each other, desk steamy times, witty snarky banter, airplane flights, weekend getaways, Los Angeles, angsty pasts, family drama, even more steamy times, Hallmark movies, Pinterest boards, shoe shopping, courtrooms, and a HEA that will absolutely make you swoon and your heart melt, then you will love Gemma and Ben's story. Each book in this series keeps getting better, and I always look forward to more from Elizabeth O'Roark!

Enemies to Lovers in the workplace

Gemma despises Ben. He's stolen her clients and is really perfect to look at. Now they have to work together on a case that could help her make partner. Gemma is jaded because of how her father treated her mother in their divorce. can she begin to tear down her walls for Ben or is he just like her father? I enjoyed the narration by Samantha Brentmoor

another fantastic couple

The Devil You Know is Elizabeth O'Roark's third Devil book, and these couples just keep getting better (and that's really saying something since all three have been 5 star listens). Enemies to lovers is one of my favorite romance tropes, and Gemma and Ben are a perfect example of why that is. The more the sparks fly, the greater the chemistry builds between them. Then, there's the banter, and this author certainly knows her stuff. This couple slings insults like nobody's business, and all the while, it's laced with innuendo.
Of course, there is some angst as well, and I'm just gonna go ahead and say that I wanted to shake one or both of these characters several times. Gemma's past pulls at the heartstrings, and she's built up a ginormous wall to keep people at a distance. I felt a bit sorry for Ben as he tries to break through.
Samantha Brentmoor gives voice to the characters, and if you haven't had the pleasure of listening to her, you really should. Her performance captures all of the emotion, and there is plenty of that between Gemma and Ben. I fell in love with these two as a couple right off the bat, and I didn't change my mind for a minute. Sure, they have their ups and downs on the way to their happy ever after, and between O'Roark's writing and Brentmoor's performance, it feels like you're right there with them.

Hysterical banter...

I absolutely loved ben and Gemma's story. It is an enemies to lovers story with hysterical banter, all the heat and constant push and pull that will keep you on your toes. Around every corner you will find out something unexpected. I really enjoyed this story.

Samantha Brentmoor really brought this story to life. She was a great Gemma.

Better than a Hallmark movie

I absolutely loved the male main character Ben. Gemma was so insecure due to a past relationship and Ben was so patient with her, knowing that she had trust issues. I loved her obsession with Hallmark movies. Samantha Brentmoor did an amazing job with the narration.
