Resumen del Editor

Deep in the Rocky Mountains, a gruesome discovery - hundreds of mummified bodies - stirs international attention and fervent controversy. Despite doubts to the bodies' origins, the local Native American Heritage Commission lays claim to the prehistoric remains, along with the strange artifacts found in the same cavern: gold plates inscribed with an unfathomable script.

During a riot at the dig site, an anthropologist dies horribly. All evidence points to a radical group of Native Americans, including one agitator who escapes with a vital clue to the murder and calls on the one person who might help - her uncle, Painter Crowe, director of Sigma Force. To protect his niece and uncover the truth, Painter will ignite a war across the nation's most powerful intelligence agencies. Yet, an even greater threat looms as events in the Rocky Mountains have set in motion a geological meltdown that threatens the entire western half of the U.S.

From the volcanic peaks of Iceland to the blistering deserts of the American Southwest, from the gold vaults of Fort Knox to the bubbling geysers of Yellowstone, Painter Crowe joins forces with commander Gray Pierce to penetrate the shadowy heart of a dark cabal, one that has been manipulating American history since the founding of the 13 colonies. But can he discover the truth before it destroys all he holds dear?

Not exactly historically correct, but a fun listen

So I am a big fan of James Rollins, he’s a lot like Clive Cussler, except he swears a lot more. This book made me chuckle because it talked extensively about the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and trying to say the Nephites lived in the US, and other funny yet not correct assumptions about the church. Please don’t believe all they infer, most of it is inaccurate. Don’t let that stop you from reading the book. It was a fun fantasy listen. To find out the real story goto www.churchofjesuschrist.org

Another Excellent Book by this Author

Another Excellent Book by this Author - I have read and listened to all the books by this author - the books concerning Sigma I believe are the best and keep the reader/listener enthralled to the very end. I can hardly wait to the next book by this author.

an amazing read

I guess my opinion can be seen as kind of biased seeing how as I already read just about all of James Rollins's books and love them all, but I still say this is a great story.

Historical Mystery & Fate Of The World At Stake

Would you consider the audio edition of The Devil Colony to be better than the print version?

I think that the audio version did impress a bit more emotional resonance that the simple printed word did.

Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?

Yes actually. The fascinating historical mysteries investigated as well as the scientific developments and discoveries discussed made for very interesting listening.

What about Peter Jay Fernandez’s performance did you like?

His performance seemed to fit the characters well.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Wanted to - sure. Able to - not so much. I think it would be great for a long car or plane trip. Or, as I used it, as part of my daily commute.

Any additional comments?

As with the rest of James Rollin's SIGMA books, recommended. Interesting characters. Good writing. Fascinating ideas explored.

James Rollins a favorite of mine.

I have read ALL his books, this being my first audio.
I find my face mimicing the charachters more than four times an hour.
Mr. Rollins story lines are credible and actually do teach some science. My favorite book will always be "Amazonia" it was my first introduction of this wonderful Author.

A real "page turner."

This was excellent. Good reader. Great character development. Great plot. Lots of action and suspense. Really got absorbed in this book to the point I think I finished listening to it in record time. Again, a real "page turner." If I could have rated this book higher than a "5" - I still would have given it the highest rating possible. Just went from finishing this book to purchasing another by James Rollins. You won't be disappointed!!

Good, but not the best of the series

I loved the other books in this series, this one never got beyond just okay. The premise was a bit off and overdone for me. It is very heavy into Morman beliefs which I found very tiresome and this book didn't hold my interest. Nothing against Mormans, the few I know are great people and even though I don't believe as they do I have respect for their beliefs; just not something I want as a subject for a suspense novel.
