Resumen del Editor

Eighteen-year-old Katherine Ramsey travels to London with her family to make her debut into society and hopefully find her future husband. Her overbearing aunt insists that she must secure a proposal from a wealthy young man who is in line to inherit his father's title and estate. But Katherine questions her aunt's plans when she gets to know Jonathan Foster, a handsome medical student and strong Christian who is determined to protect the poor and vulnerable in London's East End. When a family scandal puts a damper on Katherine's hopes for the season, she has time to volunteer with Jonathan, caring for children in one of London's poorest areas, and romance blossoms. Katherine's faith grows, and she begins to envision a different future with Jonathan. But when Katherine's work in the East End puts her in danger, Jonathan distances himself from Katherine to protect her. A wealthy suitor reappears, and Katherine must choose which path to follow.

Good, clean romance

This second book of a trilogy is quite good, although it can drag a little, there was suspense and best of all, this author gives the glory to God. I'm so thankful there are still good, clean romances without foul language and uncomfortable sex scenes. You won't have to worry about young ears hearing vulgar language. If you are looking for a clean romance, this book is it!

Great story of becoming who you were meant to be!

I enjoyed this book very much! I was quite happy to see how Katherine matured and came to know what she truly wanted as she went on "in the season." I cannot believe Sir William put up with Kate's Aunt Louisa, my goodness I wanted to choke her! I was exceedingly happy when Kate finally spoke her mind.
I first read the Kindle version of this series when it came out. I decided to listen to the Audible version and fell in love with the stories all over again.
The narration was excellent! I look forward to listening to the 3rd and final book in the series soon.

Enchanting love story

I loved the book. The characters were true to their Christian convictions. It was a sweet love story without premarital sex. And the language was appropriate. I loved everything about this book and I will recommend it to everyone. Including my 5 married daughters, and 3 daughter in laws. Thank you so much for this wonderful book. Debi

a true Christian romance

I love the fact there aren't all the sexual inferences. As Christians we need more wholesome light reading venues.

A good clean romantic novel

Loved this book! I appreciate the spiritual thread throughout the book and the lessons it teaches about the role of faith in the lives of its primary characters. The plot was well presented and I had a hard time turning off the audio.

Excellent Story and Narration

I loved this story. Set in England, in the early 20th century, Daughter of Highland Hall drew me right in. I loved getting to know all the characters. Carrie Turansky is a gifted writer who artfully tells a beautiful story and brings in valuable Christian messages and lessons.

I hope Carrie Turansky writes as much as she can 🌹and that Audible records it all!

I’ve greatly enjoyed the entire Highland Hall series. Especially the multifaceted nature of its characters, romantic attraction that isn’t overtly placed on physical appearance alone, and a model of spirituality based on seeking guidance, strength, and comfort rather than explicitly requested results for ourselves.

In this second novel in the series, what was most enjoyable for me was to watch Kate’s just-beneath-the-eye, but on-going evolution in her personal maturation and spiritual development.

I continue to greatly enjoy Veida Dehmlow’s narration, especially her own voice as narrator, the female voices, and her mastery of a variety of English accents. (Her work on mastering male voices seems to still be a work in progress, but overall much improved from the strong raspiness in the first novel.)

cute story

I really enjoyed this sequel to The Governess of Highland Hall. The story kept my interest throughout. The narrator is great with almost every aspect except her male voices. Unfortunately her male voices are all scratchy and sound like old men, and sometimes it is difficult to discern which male is speaking. However, she has a great talent with reading with excitement and the correct tones and inflections, so she is still a top narrator
I'm now moving on to book 3.

Lovely Listen!

Book two in Carrie Turansky's Highland Hall series gives us Kate making her debut in London society. She's very young, only 18, and having to make choices that will affect her for the rest of her life. Scandal in the family looms in the background. As part of her story arc she learns to deal with an over-bearing aunt. Kate must choose between two men who are pursuing her, but it becomes clear early on who she'll end up with. The story is slow to unfold and even though I had the speed set on 1.5 or 2 for speed it was still slow moving, which I am assuming may be a narrator issue. Several of the men in the story sounded exactly alike in their accents and in their choice of words. Some of that may be from the narrator but it made it difficult to differentiate which character was speaking at times. It is so difficult to find Christian fiction to listen to, and this is one that I enjoyed and was able to do my household chores as I was listening. Glad to have had the audiobook available!
