Sometimes the purest love can turn to the deepest hate.

I was 12 when I promised Solo that I would one day marry him. Maybe I would have if he hadn't gotten impatient and ruined everything that summer when I was 15. For the last seven years I've replaced the love I once felt for him with anger over his almost getting me killed.

Willow, a talented Motlander dancer, goes on tour in the Northlands. What should have been a chance for a new beginning brings her face to face with her traumatic past when Solo, a mountain of a man and the fiercest warrior of his generation, is put in charge of her safety against her will. If she can't get rid of him at least she can return the favor and make his job a nightmare too.

Contains mature themes.

Definitely addictive. The whole series was great and I'm sad to let it go now that it's over. I appreciate it being free and wonder why all the best series I find always are. I 100% recommend all the books in this series. The author has done a great job making everyone relatable and each book enjoyable.

such a touching story.

I love this series and every single female lead in previous books but Willow... omg, i just can't with her never defending solo and allowing everyone to think negatively towards solo...

omg, I just can't even....

I absolutely love this series—this book, not as much as the others. It is good but Willow is extremely annoying and childish. She never defended Solo and she was as involved in them running away together as he was. Unfortunately, Solo was blamed and punished for everything. I love that several of the other NMen and their wives made appearances in the book as well as some new NMen. This book felt different than the others in that it switched from present day to seven years in the past and back. I hope Ms. Peer will continue to write more Men of the North books. She is an awesome author!

Great Series, Childish Heroine

The storyline of this book was much more interesting than the last book. It held my attention and was hard to put down. Willow was unlikable for half of the book; I liked Solo. The storyline is moving along at a good pace. The narrators are doing a great job with characters. On to the next book in series!

I don’t understand why everyone is complaining. This is a really good book. Two thumbs up 👍🏻.
After listening to all the MC books I needed something else and i am happy I found this series.

Great book

This series is one of my favorites. I have listened to it several times and each time I have a different favorite installment. This story is my favorite this time. Willow and Hunter pissed me off before but now I see there attitudes is what made the story, after all Hunter in The Athlete was my favorite. I love the new characters introduced in this story. Leo, Sassquatch and Solo are good friends. I love that. Tristan is pretty funny with his lessons to Selma about N men. I laughed out loud so many times. I can only imagine how much fun Elin Peer had writing this brilliant series. It’s written so well, the way each story flows together. Each book is standalone but we, the readers have been given an intro to what’s to come in the next book. The narrators are outstanding! Noelle has a cute sexy voice and John is excellent as well and super funny. I recommend this book to anyone who enjoys dystopian worlds , romance and a little sexy fun.

So good!!

I know so many people said it was not worth listening to. I didn't listen to the reviews and was pleasantly surprised. Yes Willow was not the lovey dovey main character but she was totally relatable to. Time can warp your perceptions and she was young when the tragedy happened. If someone tells you again and again that your are supposed to hate something you eventually start to believe them. You see her mind working through the I hate you thinking and realizing she doesn't hate him.
Was worth the credit I spent for it.

I really enjoyed this one

I rolled my eyes so many times listening to this book... Solo is a great lead, but Willow is not. It was hard to believe that they would end up together after reading 2/3 of the book. At least the side plots were interesting (police force and Leo, doom squad, and everybody in the mansion).

Great series, not so great book

I've read several reviews concerning this book and was curious by the mud slinging of the character Willow. So far this author has perfected different personalities and relationship types. This book is no different. Taking a relationship from a youthful love through trauma and then bringing them back together years later was a nice twist to the usual stories in this series. Many have written that they do not like and even hate Willow. To be honest, the author did a really good job portraying how the mind of an impressionable girl can take pieces of a memory after TBI (HEAD TRAUMA PEOPLE), coupled with all the anger and hostility of those with her after the event PLUS years of conditioning to get to the point where she is scared of Solo. She still has feelings for him and many questions; her gut instinct is that her heart is telling her the truth. With years of trying to fill in the gaps and being pressured to stay away and avoid the dangerous man who stole her from her brother, she is confused and convinced her irrational feelings are the result of something much worse. For anyone who has experienced trauma, especially as a child, should understand what her mind plus others words have done to her. She has anxiety attacks because her memories are ones put together into her mind by the stories she has been told. We all know stories get exaggerated, even more so when someone who did not experience it is the one retelling it. There shouldn't be hate for this character, but understanding, empathy and the hope that she can heal her broken soul.
