“All human wisdom is contained in these two words—wait and hope.”

David Rintoul delivers a defining performance of Dumas' timeless tale.

Revenge, justice, and reinvention collide in this electrifying classic.

The Count of Monte Cristo follows Edmond Dantès, a young sailor betrayed by those he trusts and condemned to a life he doesn’t deserve. After a daring escape and the discovery of a vast hidden treasure, he transforms himself into the mysterious Count of Monte Cristo—and sets out to rewrite his destiny. In a world of hidden motives and shifting loyalties, this story feels strikingly modern: a smart, high-stakes journey of identity, power, and the price of vengeance.

Alexandre Dumas (1802–1870) was a French novelist and playwright whose adventurous storytelling helped shape modern popular fiction. Known for works like The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo, Dumas blended historical drama with irresistible plot twists, creating tales that continue to captivate readers around the world.

The performance highlighted an incredible story.
Both were excellent.
The narrator captured both the accents of the characters, and the adventure and mystery of the novel.
I hesitated listening to this and once I started found myself completely absorbed.
Definitely worth my time.

No wonder that this is a classic.

I've listened..and have.read this thrilling novel once or twice per year throughout my life, so far I'm only 8 hours in with this narration, which is superb! You must obtain and transform yourself into the story following Edmond Dantes...a sailor falsely imprisoned . During this adventure filled with much intrique and moral complexity. Its utterly unputdownable!

Best Narration of this Epic Tale!!!

Amazing audiobook! I sampled several before landing on this one, and I couldn’t be more pleased with my decision. It’s a long listen, so it’s important to find a narration you enjoy. I will never forget experiencing this classic for the first time through this version. What an unexpected journey! Edmond Dantès is now one of my very favorite characters in fiction. Can’t wait to listen to it all over again!

Credit where credit is due, the narration was wonderful. The story itself however, was deeply unsatisfying. The main character is impossible to sympathize with or understand as he is radically inconsistent. The dialogue good, and the narrative is suspenseful, but in comparison with depth of character that is small praise. I wouldn’t waste my time with this book again.
