A disgraced bookseller journeys into a lush, wondrous world of magical books, deadly ink magic, and secret societies, in this darkly spellbinding standalone fantasy novel from the #1 Sunday Times bestselling author of The City of Stardust.

We are but story made manifest...

If you want a story that will change your life, Chiron’s bookshop is where you go. For those lucky enough to grace its doors, it’s a glimpse into a world of powerful bargains and deadly ink magic.

For Cassandra Fairfax, it’s a reminder of everything she lost, when Chiron kicked her out and all but shuttered the shop. Since then, she’s used her skills in less ethical ways, trading stolen books and magical readings to wealthy playboys and unscrupulous collectors.

Then Chiron dies under mysterious circumstances. And if Cassandra knows anything, it’s this: the bookshop must always have an owner.

But she's not the only one interested. There's Lowell Sharpe, a dark-eyed, regrettably handsome bookseller she can't seem to stop bumping into; rival owners who threaten Cassandra from the shadows; and, of course, Chiron's murderer, who is still on the loose.

As Cassandra tries to uncover the secrets her mentor left behind, a sinister force threatens to unravel the world of the magical bookshops entirely...

Reseñas de la Crítica

"Georgia Summers’s magical bookshop is my new favorite place. It may be fraught and deadly, and even a little seedy—as flawed as Cassandra Fairfax, its hesitant new owner—but the mystery and danger are part of its charm. The Bookshop Below is a delicious read, I loved every second of it." —Laini Taylor, New York Times bestselling author
"Steeped in bookish magic and infused with the comfort and terror of a favorite tragic fairytale, The Bookshop Below is darkly whimsical and utterly heart-wrenching." —Tori Bovalino, author of My Throat An Open Grave
“Georgia Summers’ unique literary magic system (and exceptional literary romance!) bewitched me. The Bookshop Below is lavish, beguiling, and altogether the sort of enchanted book you’d expect to find in the shadowy corner of a curious shop.” —Sylvie Cathrall, author of A Letter to the Luminous Deep
"Rich, dark and romantic, The Bookshop Below is a must read for everyone who believes in the magic of books." —M.A. Kuzniar, bestselling author of Midnight in Everwood
"A love letter to the power of words, for both good and evil. I devoured this story and adored the taste of ink, romance, and magic in every page!" —Catelyn Wilson, author of All the Devils

The sentient bookstore made me think of Abernathy's. That though is the end of the comparison. The magic system was interesting though not very clear leaving me tired of guessing and a bit bored. The characters are all rather bland with the exception of Byron who diplayed some life. I am disappointed. I remember rating The City of Stardust five stars. That will not be the case here. The denouement was expected and while it had a bit less passivity it was still somewhat dull.

I expected so much more
