A US destroyer is torpedoed by an Iranian submarine and Captain Murray Wilson of the USS Michigan is flown to the Pentagon to meet with the Secretary of the Navy (SecNav). There, Wilson learns that the Iranian submarine is just a cover story. One of the United States' own fully automated unmanned underwater vehicles has gone rogue, its programing corrupted in some way. Murray is charged with hunting it down and taking it out before the virus that's infected its operating system can infect the rest of the fleet.

At the same time, the head of the SEAL detachment aboard the USS Michigan is killed, and Lonnie Mixell, a former US operative—now assassin for hire, is responsible. And that is only the first SEAL to be hunted down and killed. Jake Harrison, fellow SEAL, discovers that these SEALs had one mission in common—they were all on the team that killed Bin Laden. Or so the world was told.

As Wilson discovers that his mission is actually meant to cover up dangerous acts of corruption, even treason, Harrison discovers that the assassin is out to protect the same forces. Forces too powerful for either of them to take on alone.

I was excited to finish the last books in the Trident series. Now, I’m not sure. The narrator is HORRIBLE! His reading is worse than monotonous. There no believable separation in character voices/tones. ARRGH

Should have stayed with the original narrator, sounds like book is read by AI. All of Campbells books are good but this one seemed to struggle with story line.

Good Story Bad Narrator

this was a good story line in a much anticipated series. I gave been waiting for years. but this was quite possible the worst narration I have heard. forced over dramatic male voices, and then falsetto female voices that screamed of a badly done antebellum south. the narration was cringe worthy and honestly would have been fine if he hadn't tried so hard. very unfortunate.

one of the worst narrations I have heard

I am enjoying the story so far, as I have all the other books by Campbell, but this time I can't help but wonder if anyone actually listened to it before making it available for purchase. I saw the other reviews and listened to the preview thinking it couldn't be that bad, but boy was I wrong. This guy is flat out awful. Honestly, I think I'm at 80 or 90 finished books now, and this is definitely fighting for the top spot of worst narrators so far.

Fun Story, Terrible Narrator
