There is something lurking in the trees....
A winter storm has buried North Dakota in snow and ice. With accidents being reported across the region, Deputy Ron Weller must patrol along the main road through a normally tranquil forest in Beeman County. The night grows menacing as he discovers vehicles that have been run off the road, their drivers mysteriously missing. Strange tracks lead through a region of thick forest known as Devil's Rock. There, Weller makes a horrifying discovery.
A monster has awakened. Its hunger is insatiable, and its ferocity has no limits.
Protected by an armored exoskeleton, the beast is relentless in its pursuit of prey. It must feed or face starvation. What has started as a search for a missing driver has now become a fight for survival, as Ron Weller is hunted by the Beast of Devil's Rock.

Decent creature feature
While it took a little while to get where it was going, the pay off in the last half of the book was great. Not a fan of an open ending like it had, but it had some great tension in several parts. Overall a fun, fast listen.

Short monster story
This monster story could have been twice as long with more history and more present-day trouble. Instead, you come into the story the same times the characters do. You keep wondering what the town or county missed going on in their woods instead of following the story. I listened to the end twice. The end was ok, but I still wanted more. I have another book by the same author and enjoyed that one so I went looking for more. I'll listen to this book again, but it could have been fleshed out.

Fast paced and fun.
It’s fast paced and fun, it’s a good action packed horror tale. Some gross out stuff that made me curl my toes. Some of the early set ups had good pay offs later on, and some thing’s genuinely surprised me. It’s not incredible literature but I absolutely will listen to more from this author.
