Resumen del Editor

In the aftermath of a hurricane, a series of strange events plague the coastal waters off Florida. People go into the water and never return. Corpses of killer whales drift ashore, ravaged from enormous bite marks. A fishing trawler is found adrift, with a mysterious gash in its hull.

Transferred to the coastal town of Merit, police officer Leonard Riker uncovers the horrible reality of an enormous thresher shark lurking off the coast. Forty feet in length, it has taken a territorial claim to the waters near the town harbor. Armed with three-inch teeth, a scythe-like caudal fin, and unmatched aggression, the beast seeks to kill anything sharing the waters.

A+

Very interesting story that keeps you wanting to continue. Characters are well thought out and interact great together. I found myself rooting for some characters and wishing death on others, which is the point in stories. Also the ending was great and hope there will be another.

AMAZING A MUST READ!!!!!

This book had my son staying up late to read it he couldn’t put it down! It’s not just another jaws but like a cousin of the novel. This book contains horror and action around every corner, the book does however the book does contain some language that I got a little worried about. Other than that the book is amazing

Outstanding character development.

I enjoyed this book a great deal. Character development very good. The narrator sounded like Clint Eastwood, which was great. A well done Dirty Harry clone.

A Great Creature Feature

This book will not win any prizes but if you are looking for a man vs monster book that is shallow and hits all the tropes, then this book will satisfy.

AWSUM! Should've Been a Movie...

This was like a good mix of "Jaws", "Deep Blue Sea", n "The Meg" all rolled into 1... DEFINITELY enjoyable...

WHAT A BRILLIANT SURPRISE!

I want to begin with the fact that even when I love the book, I normally do NOT write a full review! However, I could not stay silent about this!! I LOVE books like this!!
When I was much younger and the book “Meg” first came to the store shelves, I became addicted to this type of book. I honestly gave up on finding any other books that were like “Meg”, the “Loch” by Steve Alten, or like “Below” and “What Lurks Beneath” by Bryan Lockwood.
These books, while fiction, make you think that it actually COULD BE possible for these creatures to exist! These are the best type, in my opinion, and sadly, not every author can make the reader believe it the potential “what if’s”.
To my extreme surprise, Michael Cole and the “Thresher” lives up to Steve Alten, Ryan Lockwood, as well as Greg Beck with “Fathomless”, Paul E. Cooley with “The Black” series! Michael Cole was brilliant writing this book and Matt Godfrey remains one of my favorite narrators! Godfrey even pronounces the scientific terminology correctly! This book is worth the read and in listening!

Perfect summer read (or listen!)

When a government project falls into the ocean and is consumed by a thresher shark, all hell breaks loose as the giant shark has to feed its giant appetite. With a similar set-up and cast as Jaws, Thresher takes us on an adventure that includes well-drawn characters and vivid descriptions. Definitely held my attention! I would listen to more by this author. Matt Godfrey did a fine job with the narration as well.

Oi, what’s with the character names?

While I’m on my “animals behaving badly” kick (and trying to recover from the awfulness that was Peter Benchley’s Jaws), this seemed like a good pick. While thresher sharks don’t exactly instill fear (whether they are 80 feet long or not), this seemed like a well-fleshed out storyline as long as you can suspend reality a bit. The narrator wasn’t terrible and did at least have a wide repertoire of voices, although some were a bit nasally. The characters had plenty of background, although I struggle to understand the names. It’s obviously meant to be occurring in recent times, so I cannot fathom why the author named such characters as Leonard and Martha or Spud and Spike. The only guess I can make is that these are actual people that the author knows and wanted to pay homage to because finding middle-aged Leonard’s and Martha’s, and teenaged Spuds and Spikes in Present Day society is probably pretty slim. The names were probably the thing that bothered me the most about the story because they just didn’t fit and every time I heard them mentioned, it completely took me out of the story because it was just.so.stinking.unlikely. Other than that, while slower at times, it did keep me engaged for the full length and I will highly recommend over Jaws (the novel) any time someone is looking for a good shark thriller. And yes, I’ve listed to The Meg, and Thresher is far, far better than that one, too. The part of the story that wasn’t fiction was that corrupt politicians and media are motivated by money over truth and seems an especially poignant point during the times we currently live in. Point to Michael Cole for throwing that in there, too.
