Will humanity survive?
Admiral Stokes' forces are scattered and beleaguered with no safe haven. The forces of the Woduur have decisively defeated the Lashmere Navy and invaded Lashmere itself. Humans are on the verge of defeat. Their only hope lies in the ancient ship held by an alien race that may want them all dead.

Captivating story.

The book does move the story forward but, at times, seems to slow the pace by spending significant time on the minutia of the moment. Still, I found the book very entertaining and would recommend it, and the series, for anyone looking for a compound novel focused on galactic intrigue.
MacLeod Andrews continues to provide a wide range of voice characterization which make for an improved listening experience.
Truly, an epic space opera

The author's clumsy prose, passive voice, and poor storytelling combine with the narrator's lifeless performance to create an incredibly tedious audiobook. I couldn't get myself to care about anything that happened in this book, and had to force myself to pay attention through most chapters.
The titular battle at the end of the novel is so brief and dull that I can't understand why the author named the book after it.
Several antagonists from previous books are treated as protagonists in this entry. In particular, one character who was previously painted as racist, paranoid, petty, and completely unprofessional, suddenly gets vindicated and promoted to a major position in what can only be described as a childish fantasy.
Terrible
