Resumen del Editor

The exciting conclusion to the Faded Star saga.

Humanity faces challenges from both without and within.

The Woduur are unyielding in their desire to subjugate the humans, and the Karn people protest and riot on Lashmere. The alliance is up to its old tricks, playing both sides of the conflict, and Lashmere Intelligence looks for answers to the Behemoth mystery.

Admiral Stokes leads the battle-worn fleet against long odds. Only courage, cunning, and heroism will allow them to prevail.

Will humanity survive?

Good series

Some of the more enjoyable sci-fi released in the last few years. Anyone who is a fan of Robotech, lensman, Macross, or Halo should really enjoy this series. The writer plays to his strengths and Macleod Andrews is good as always.

I just binged the whole series

Book 4 seems like a much longer book that was edited down. It’s a great read regardless. I wish I had #5 to start right away. Well done.

A peace with lots of loose ends

Michael Freeport's Book 4 ending of the war with the Woduur and humans left a lot of puzzling questions unanswered. In my attempt to address a few of them, I am forced to lightly step into spoiler territory, however, I will attempt to keep it at a minimum.

One, as the title indicates, the humans were able to soundly defeat the Woduur but during the final negotiation period, the humans allowed the Woduur Consortium to keep tens of thousand human captives as slaves, not even mentioning them during the discussions.

Two, the Captain Kri/Marli Simmons story arc was a bit bewildering in that Kri through a fit of rage shattered Marli datapad, that he was knew held the information to locate the Loki AND was told that it contained the cure to a deadly Woduur disease; yet, he never held accountable for this recklessness that could have immediately saved hundreds of humans and, ultimately doomed all the humans on Lashmere.

Three, Marli was the brilliant scientist who designed and advanced the advanced Woduur technology human ships along with the Behemoth, a planet busting ship that had gone missing. Since much of its design included, and relied on, Woduur technology, there was no explanation as to why the humans were able to eventually best the Woduur both with their superior tactics and technology advancements.

There were other areas that needed more fleshing out but the above should suffice.

The book ended with hints of another possible series involving the Behemoth and the quest to locate humanities mother planet, Earth.

MacLeod Andrews' performance was still quite good but some of the alien voices came across rather tinny and garbed.
