Very interesting look at the art of public speaking by looking at the greats including Gandhi, Churchill, Kennedy, Reagan, King and other from form ancient times for insight on how we can be better in the art. The academician look at the topic was an interesting twist that shows how much of the art is timeless and unchanging.

First rate!!

Definitely one of the top ten of educational books. Highly recommend for anybody seeking to excell in speaking, public speaking and life.

Entertaining and useful

I loved this book as it was entertaining and gave a interesting look at history and the speeches which shaped it. Not only can this book be implemented in everyday life , it is also useful in my doctoral studies as well. I highly suggest this book for self entertainment or as an aid to educational studies.

If you want to know great public speakers, it is a great book. If you want a book that keeps you engaged and teaches you a lot about public speaking, read something else.

Ideal as a Crash Course or Review

I love being in front of a crowd. If I get to be in front of people AND talk, all the better. I approached this book hoping to refine my speaking ability. I didn't go searching for a primer guide to speaking. However, I found this book to be appropriate as both and introductory and intermediary course. If you don't think you are an advanced speaker yet, this course is for you.

The thing I appreciated most about this course was the exposure I got to great speeches throughout history. I loved to hear speeches that I had never heard before from people I hardly recognize their names. These speeches really gave me some great ideas of how to improve my speaking ability.

I am inspired to go out and become the great speaker after listening.
