Historia
Think of The War of Art as tough love...for yourself. Since 2002, The War of Art has inspired people around the world to defeat "resistance"; to recognize and knock down dream-blocking barriers and to silence the naysayers within us. Resistance kicks everyone's butt, and the desire to defeat it is equally as universal. The War of Art identifies the enemy that every one of us must face, outlines a battle plan to conquer this internal foe, then pinpoints just how to achieve the greatest success.

Many famed music producers are known for a particular sound that has its day. Rick Rubin is known for something else: creating a space where artists of all different genres and traditions can home in on who they really are and what they really offer. He has made a practice of helping people transcend their self-imposed expectations in order to reconnect with a state of innocence from which the surprising becomes inevitable. Over the years, he has learned that being an artist isn’t about your specific output, it’s about your relationship to the world.

It is about committing your future to your own hands, placing free will above predestination, choice above chance. It is about finding your own work.

Historia
How did the Wendels, one of New York’s most famous Gilded Age families, disappear from history? The Wendels built a fortune from New York real estate, and rubbed shoulders with the Astors, Vanderbilts, and Stuyvesants. But as the 19th century came to an end, the Wendel family tore itself apart. Following six years of painstaking archival research, Claire Prentice has prised open the door of the Wendels’ Fifth Avenue mansion—dubbed “the house of mystery” by the press—to reveal a fascinating and dysfunctional family imprisoned in a gilded cage.

Historia
The history of the Boston Tea Party is a hidden one. Why? Since it was a clandestine operation, all sorts of rumors and legends grew up around the event—many collected decades after the American Revolution had ended. At its core, however, the night of December 16, 1773, when colonials dumped tea from British ships into Boston Harbor, was more than a fight over tea and taxes. It was a struggle over the very nature of democracy and self-governance.

Forever a classic.
I will never tire of “The Art SPIRIT”. The narration is done perfectly and allows me to feel the words as I did when I first read this some years ago.
As an artist, I am a perpetual beginner and student but itʻs easy to get lost in monotny so reading this every so often is a refreshing reminder.
For the first time reader, open your mind, find a comfortable chair, get out that favorite sketchbook and sharpened pencils and enjoy. You may even want to jot down a few things because I promise, this timeless book will offer up countless and very useful ideas as well as guidance.

Essential listening for creative people!
This book is nothing less than a spiritual treatise on Art, and will remain a cherished member of my creative library. Also, the narrator is amazingly perfect for this book. He has wisdom in his voice. I don't know what Robert Henri sounded like, but I kept forgetting that I wasn't actually listening to Henri himself!

THE book on art
The Art Spirit by Henri Robert is the most dense, wise, and insightful teaching of how to create art I have read and I’ve read about 6 to 8 of the most reputable books on making art. Almost every single sentence is quotable. Henri Robert has the most uncanny, almost spiritual, understanding of what makes great art. Even though he references painting mostly I’m an actor, filmmaker and writer and I felt it was all extremely relevant to my crafts. If you are interested in making high art then this boos of def. for you!

An inspiring classic of art teaching
Robert Henri was an excellent artist, but it has especially been his passionate teaching that continues to resonate and find new adherents nearly a century after his death.
A legendary art teacher in NYC, his students included Edward Hopper, George Bellows, and Rockwell Kent. This book comprises remarks recorded on the fly by students as well as letters, critiques, and short articles. Conversational, humane, wise, alive.
His book inspired writer Pete Hamill as well as Frank X. of the insightful and powerfully drawn memoir Oceans of Wine.
The Art Spirit is a gift for open and honest artists, whether painters, musicians, writers, or anyone seeking increased creative voltage in their lives. A great book.
