Resumen del Editor

What's next for Allan Karlsson? Turns out this centenarian has a few more adventures in store....

It all begins with a hot-air-balloon trip and three bottles of champagne. Allan and Julius are ready for some spectacular views, but they’re not expecting to land in the sea and be rescued by a North Korean ship, and they could never have imagined the captain of the ship would be harboring a suitcase full of contraband uranium on a nuclear-weapons mission for Kim Jong-un. Yikes!

Soon Allan and Julius are at the center of a complex diplomatic crisis involving world figures from the Swedish foreign minister to Angela Merkel and President Trump. Needless to say, things are about to get very, very complicated.

Another hilarious, witty, and entertaining novel from best-selling author Jonas Jonasson that will have listeners howling out loud at the escapades and misfortunes of its beloved 100-year-old hero Allan Karlsson and his irresistible sidekick, Julius.

Best Jonasson yet!

The characterizations of current world leaders are priceless. Delightful and uproariously thoughtful. Thank you Mr Author!

Crazy Swedish Centenarian - Part 2

Incredibly far fetched fairytale of wonder, travel, world leaders & asparagus. The web is tangled hither & yon with a years worth of humor. Not quite as engrossing at Part 1 but maybe the uniqueness wore off a little. All in all a delightful read. I’m hoping there is a Part 3!

So.much.fun!

Another winning book by Jonas Jonasson. Good grief! I wish Alan Carlson (sp?) and his friends were my neighbors. They bring more laughs than a barrel of monkeys :) and kudos to Peter Kenny who is a marvelous narrator!

Hmmmm . . . errrrrr . . . .

This book is the ultimate proof that history is "his story.". I used to think that exclusively meant that it was up to the victors or survivors of historical happenings, but I now think there is so much more that can be blamed upon how the person looking at the information decides to interpret it. The Swedish author is decidedly pessimistic in his views. While I cannot argue that there is much bad in the world, I am of the mind that trying to find the good in things is a more productive and effective way of fixing the problems. I'm sure that some will say that humor, as this book is meant to come across as, can be effective too, and while I agree with that as well, I must point out that this is negative humor (if humor can ever be used to describe the majority of this book), which I do not consider very effective. I think what bothers me the most about this book is just how disrespectful everyone is. The is no real kindness anywhere. I can say however that the last statement in the book is fairly truthful.

not what I had hoped.

I had truly hoped for a continuation of the 1st book. The characters and plot were just not as lol funny and convoluted as the first book. As the author said in the opening comments, he wasn't planning on a sequel. It certainly felt forced.

Great adventure

I just loved the continuation of Alan's life journey, how today's events are woven in and I can't wait to hear more!!!

He should have read his first book before writing

his political views were too evident and the story didn't mesh with the first book.

One Hundred year Old Man Returns

Maybe not quite as good as the original, but close. Hilarious use of current political figures, plotting and coincidences. Very entertaining.

Absolutely Hilarious!

I admit I was a bit skeptic when coming to this book, afraid that it would fail as many sequels fail, but even after the first chapter I realized I have nothing to worry about. Jonasson's writing was sharp and ruthless on one hand and comical gold on the other.
The fact that the events of the book take place in today's time just make it much more satirical. Some might take offense by the way their country leaders are portrayed in the book, but I for one highlighted them so I could re read them later.
The only downside is that in some parts Alan was truly annoying, not only to the characters but also to me, but it may be on purpose so you could connect with the characters.
Petern Kenny did an amazing job at narrating the story and portraying the characters. He even did different accents that fitted the characters' origin.
Overall, a must read for those who loved the first book.

I really fun follow up.

this is a very fun book. I highly recommend it. It's not as good in my opinion as the first, but that was a work of sheer Genius. It's also a little bit depressing to read such a poignant commentary of the unmitigated shitshow that the world is turning into. I Wish future Generations the best, but I don't have much hope.
