Wealthy, beautiful, and brilliant, Shele Danishefsky had fulfillment at her fingertips. Having conquered Wall Street, she was eager to build a family with her much younger husband, promising Ivy League graduate Rod Covlin. But when his hidden vices surfaced, marital harmony gave way to a merciless divorce. Rod had long depended on Shele's income to fund his tastes for high stakes backgammon and infidelity - and she finally vowed to sever him from her will. In late December 2009, Shele made an appointment with her lawyer. She would never make it to that meeting.

From the story of the desperate man from 17th-century Amsterdam who grimly cut a stone out of his own bladder to Bob Marley's deadly toe, Under the Knife offers a wealth of fascinating and unforgettable insights into medicine and history via the operating room. What happens during an operation? How does the human body respond to being attacked by a knife, a bacterium, a cancer cell, or a bullet? And, as medical advances continuously push the boundaries of what medicine can cure, what are the limits of surgery?

There’s a California that everyone imagines, a world of Hollywood glitz and Silicon Valley, and then there’s the real California. The one where everything is the color of dirt. Where the speed freaks gangbang on Haight Street, where evil is lurking, where violence erupts like cystic acne. The place was never crazier than the ’60s and the ’70s, a time when Dad transformed from a hippie-hating Reagan voter into a weed-addled swinger with a crash pad in the Valley. On May 31, 2014, in the Milwaukee suburb of Waukesha, Wisconsin, two 12-year-old girls attempted to stab their classmate to death. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier’s violence was extreme, but what seemed even more frightening was that they committed their crime under the influence of a figure born by the internet: the so-called “Slenderman”. Yet the even more urgent aspect of the story, that the children involved suffered from undiagnosed mental illnesses, often went overlooked in coverage of the case.

Resumen del Editor
"Highly recommended on audio for listeners seeking true-crime with a focus on structural inequities, survivors, and artfully crafted narratives."—Booklist
“The best story I’ve read in a long, long time."—Lacy Crawford, author of Notes on a Silencing
“Krouse’s vivid and original memoir is state of the art. Tell Me Everything is our new standard.”—Charles D’Ambrosio, author of Loitering
Part memoir and part literary true crime, Tell Me Everything is the mesmerizing story of a landmark sexual assault investigation and the female private investigator who helped crack it open.
Erika Krouse has one of those faces. “I don’t know why I’m telling you this,” people say, spilling confessions. In fall 2002, Erika accepts a new contract job investigating lawsuits as a private investigator. The role seems perfect for her, but she quickly realizes she has no idea what she’s doing. Then a lawyer named Grayson assigns her to investigate a sexual assault, a college student who was attacked by football players and recruits at a party a year earlier. Erika knows she should turn the assignment down. Her own history with sexual violence makes it all too personal. But she takes the job anyway, inspired by Grayson’s conviction that he could help change things forever. And maybe she could, too.
Over the next five years, Erika learns everything she can about P. I. technique, tracking down witnesses and investigating a culture of sexual assault and harassment ingrained in the university’s football program. But as the investigation grows into a national scandal and a historic civil rights case, Erika finds herself increasingly consumed. When the case and her life both implode at the same time, Erika must figure out how to help win the case without losing herself.

Historia
On an August night in 1986, Jennifer Levin left a Manhattan bar with Robert Chambers. The next morning, her strangled, battered body was found in Central Park. Linda Wolfe goes beyond the headlines and media hype to recreate a story of a teenager whose immigrant mother was determined to make a better life for her son, a petty thief and drug user who'd been expelled from the best schools. Wasted powerfully depicts the freewheeling 1980s society that spawned a generation steeped in violence and the fatal impulses that drove Robert Chambers to kill.

Jennifer Thompson was raped at knifepoint by a man who broke into her apartment while she slept. She was able to escape and eventually identified Ronald Cotton as her attacker. Ronald insisted that she was mistaken - but Jennifer's positive identification was the compelling evidence that put him behind bars. After 11 years, Ronald was allowed to take a DNA test that proved his innocence. He was released after serving more than a decade in prison for a crime he never committed.

The first story Selma Blair Beitner ever heard about herself is that she was a mean, mean baby. With her mouth pulled in a perpetual snarl and a head so furry it had to be rubbed to make way for her forehead, Selma spent years living up to her terrible reputation: biting her sisters, lying spontaneously, getting drunk from Passover wine at the age of seven, and behaving dramatically so that she would be the center of attention. In a memoir that is as wildly funny as it is emotionally shattering, Blair tells the captivating story of growing up and finding her truth.

Completely Enthralling.
The masterful storytelling was completely enthralling . I thoroughly enjoyed it despite the difficult subject matter. Five stars all around and a must read!

Must read for all NCAA athletes and coaches!
Krouse weaves the story she is unearthing with her personal history in such an amazing way. Her style lets the reader judge each suspect, each witness, each victim on the truth they live. She has a familiar face. Her story is anything but familiar.
Gabra Zackman gives voices and real emotional energy to the book. A+ for the performance!!!

one of the best audio memoirs!!
This audio was one of the best audio memoirs i’ve listened to. The way it was presented made me feel like i was eating Erika tell me in real time! it was the perfect for my long 10 hour drives i was doing! Erika wrote one of my favorite memoirs that kept me interested from start to finish and Gabra is one of the best performers i’ve heard for a while.

Gut-wrenching and beautiful.
I am in awe of the author, her story, and the beauty of her writing. a stunning and maddening story wound together with honest storytelling. The narrator is FANTASTIC, a gift to those of us who listened to the book.

Great Book!
Erika Krouse does a great job telling her story in "Tell Me Everything", and Gabra Zackman narrated the story wonderfully as she seems to do with all her work. Erika has beautifully painted a picture of how her personal story connects with other facets of her life. I think anyone who loves a good story will enjoy "Tell Me Everything", and I am confident you will enjoy the Audible version.

Never wanted it to end, tell me more!
I love the way she weaves a real life crime/drama with her own real life crime/trauma. Beautifully written, and definitely a page turner. The way she touches on the intricacies of each relationship she has with people in the book is a story in itself.

Tell me everything
Great narrator. The main story is worth listening as were the author's own story, perspective and insights. Extra weather reports went a bit long...

A compelling story
Story of the author and her mother was sad. Mother always rejecting her and refusing to believe what was going on in her own home was terrible.

Nonfiction that reads like richly colorful fiction
The most engaging book you will read all year. Truths and secrets without covers, veils.
