Racer McKay is a broody bastard.

From the moment I met him, he's been rude, irritable, and unbearable. And worse? He's broke.

A contractor working to remodel my parents pool house for extra cash, he stomps around in those clunky construction boots with his tool belt wrapped around his narrow waist, and a chip on his shoulder.

Racer McKay is also infuriatingly...sexy as hell. I want to take that pencil tucked behind his ear, and draw lazy lines slowly up and down his body all the while wanting to strangle him at the same time. We try to stay out of each other's way...that is, until I have no other option but to ask for his help. But what I don't realize is he needs me just as much as I need him. I have money he's desperate for, and he holds the key to making my dreams come true.

Our pranks turn from sarcastic banter, to sexual tension and lust-filled glances. Bickering matches quickly morph into slow burn moments. We're hot, we're cold. We push and pull. I need him, I don't want him.

We're on the verge of combusting with an agreement dangling dangerously between us. Neither one of us can afford to lose one another and yet, we're finding it quite hard to decipher the line that rests between love and hate.

Contains mature themes.

i always enjoy Meghans writing but the narration on this one was (as my teenage cousins would say) "cringey." its hard to feel swoony over a character when every time they speak its incredibly nasal and obnoxious.

narration was tough to take.

The story was fine and enjoyable enough, if entirely predictable. My main problem with this audiobook was the terrible voice work! The same male reader read the first book in the series, and the weird crabby, nasally voice he affected for Racer’s dialogue in that book was annoying for sure, but it wasn’t a HUGE issue since Racer was just a secondary character; but it simply DOES NOT work for a leading romantic man! The voice he dons whenever Racer speaks aloud brings to mind a short, fat 1930s Chicago gangster, not a sexy-as-all-hell 6’3” construction worker with washboard abs. I don’t know who on the production team gave the go ahead for Rudy Sanda to use that voice, but that person needs to be fired. When he spoke I either screwed up my face in disgust and disbelief or laughed out loud, especially at the love scenes. It is the least sexy male voice I could possibly imagine, and it definitely doesn’t fit with the model they used for the cover photo. I really hope that awful voice doesn’t make an appearance in the third book in the series.

What is up with the male lead’s voice?

I think this book was great, but the nasally squeaky voice of the lead male was seriously getting on my nerves

Love the book

I love Meghan Quinn, but I could not get past the narration of this one. It was just too annoying. I couldn’t focus on the story. Ugh!

Could not finish!

MQ is one of my favorite authors, and her storyline doesn’t disappoint. However, the male narrator is horrible. I don’t know what possessed the voice actor to decide to speak like that for the male lead. The review that says he sounds like the rat Templeton from Charlotte’s Web is spot on- and made listening more bearable because it made me laugh each time he spoke.

Atrocious male narrator

The overall storyline was fantastic, minus the few similarities with the other books in the series—at one point I was wondering if I was listening to the last book in this series. The male narrator is NOT good with voices. Why the main character sounds so nasally is beyond me, and his laugh for all of the characters are terrible. He should just his regular voice instead.

Love the storyline but the narrator is HORRIBLE!!

I laughed over and over again during this story. It is hands down, the funniest romance I've listened to. Amelie Griffin did a great job with her narration. While Rudy Sanda did good on the majority of the voices, especially the hoity toity rich people, I don't know what he was thinking when he chose the voice for the main character, Racer. Rudy's normal voice is great, but he made Racer sound like Squidward from SpongeBob. I would have enjoyed listening much more if Racer had a normal voice. I kept listening though, because the story deserves an A+ in my opinion.

Hilarious story- refreshingly different

The voice kept changing to an annoying nerd voice for reason. It was annoying and distracting from the story.

I love Meghan Quinn’s books, but this books ranks at the bottom of the list for me. The story line was good, but Neither of the main characters were likable. They were both immature and the MMC was crass. The book does show some growth for them I just did not like this pair.
The female narrator was great. But the male narrator was awful. I almost ditched the audio because he was so bad. His regular voice was fine, but the voice he used for the MMC was high pitched and whiny and did not match the characters s personality. It made me like the character even less.

My least favorite MQ
