I love Ruby Dixon, but this is not my favorite. 😟

I absolutely love her Ruby Dixon and have read every book she has written. she cannot write them fast enough for me. unfortunately, I could barely make it through this book. I absolutely could not stand their heroin. I'm going to power my way through it because I know the next book in this series will be fantastic and it will have a few tenuous links to this book, but Max is pathetic. it might not be so bad except for the length of the book. I could probably tolerate her attitude for about half as long. it is almost like Max is trying to be pathetic. anyways, I cannot wait till the next book because I'm sure Ruby will make me fall in love with those characters all over again.

This series is Dixon’s best!
Real personalities with real reactions. Complex story with many plot points. Realistic emotional/relationship development. Overall, believable characters that make the story so much more enjoyable than most books out there.
I’m excited for the next books in this series!

Unique mythos and sweet romantic story

I tend to like most of Ruby Dixon’s tales but this series might be my favorite. It’s a really unique sort of fantasy premise that I am eager to see play out in other books. This one was a little tougher at the start than the first book but once you understand why - it keeps you hooked. Max is such a sweet optimist and Raagos such a dark and brooding hero. Also the side characters in this book are super intriguing. I’m hopeful that Kasaam‘s story is next.

I must admit Ruby Dixon is my most favorite author! She knows romance, humor and love, always perfect for happy feelings.
This series is absolutely one of the best.
(Own all her books because I always read them again, a couple of years and I read them over.)

this is an excellent book the story line is stealing the characters of well-developed unexpected twist plots I love it good book

One of the best books I have read in 2023

I guess you can call this a slow burn but I love the romance build up and the twist and turns she takes you through. Also love the new world she builds and the main character for me is really relatable and finally a girl who isn’t completely boring or unrealistically beautiful and courageous 🤣.

Fantastic! I'm not used to really fantastic science fiction romance but this is one of my favorite authors and probably my new favorite series from this author!

One of my favorite stories but narration was ick.

I have read this book many times on Kindle. It is one of my favorite comfort reads. The narration on this on honestly like nails on a chalkboard. the Narrator has given Max a nails on chalkboard, valley girl voice. Max in the book is overly trusting and thst sometimes makes her seem foolish. It's an endearing quality but hearing it read and voiced by the narrator makes me think of Karen from mean girls rather than just a sweet and naive girl. I guess there's definitely a certain skill in making someone sound stuck up and like an idiot. It makes me sad because I have NEVER pictured Max that way in all of my readings but this has ruined it for me. On top of that, the narration is VERY stilted. No flow to the reading. Just for co text, Siri speaks more smoothly than this narrator. And the tone is flat and monotone. Even when it blatantly says she is exclaiming something, it's just flat.
