Meet bad-boy shortstop Jax Carrigan....
Baseball and fast women are my life. What can I say? I'm good-looking and in the best shape of my career. Being a National League MVP contender, I'm even a great athlete. There's only one thing I'm missing: Jocelyn Kennedy.
Ten years have passed since the night we broke each other's hearts. And not a day goes by that I don't feel the sting from my actions. But that's about to change now that she's single again.
When we arrive at a mutual friend's party, it reconfirms what I already know - we belong together. I'm confident I can win her back.
There's just one thing I need to do - convince her. Ten years ago, I didn't fight hard enough. I won't make the same mistake twice.
Second chances don't happen often. But here's the thing: I go after what I want. And what I want is Jocelyn Kennedy.

I enjoyed the characters in this story and the side characters will capture your heart as well. The kids are the cutest!

I have to say that I love the narration team of Charlotte North and Aaron Shedlock. Charlotte North is a great fit for the role of Jocelyn. She is a strong woman, is a great mother and you can hear that in Charlotte's voice. But the underlying thread of longing and love in her voice is just as strong and makes you relate to Jocelyn very easily. Aaron Shedlock is perfect as Jax. Jax is a confident character, at least on the outside, and Shedlock give's Jax that perfect sound. He is cocky, yet vulnerable. The perfect mix. These two really complimented each other well and made the listen first class.
Hitting a homerun!

I liked Jax but he was rather immature for some of the events. As far as the female character, I am not a fan. I am fed up with writers using double standards as conflict starters. It’s OK for the woman to avoid conversations, to run away at the first sign of trouble, to fall into a new relationship immediately after the “love of her life” is out of the picture It’s OK for her to hide things, even to lie. When the man does even a fraction of all that, it’s a tragedy and he is a bastard. The guy always has to take the first step and fight for her, even if he wasn’t in the wrong, even when she reacts in an absurd manner. She just needs to stay at home and get mad that he doesn’t “fight hard enough”. Cmon, ladies, we either want to be equals or we don’t! And romance writers should give women more credit than that, and try to find better conflicts for their stories.
It’s an OK book if you are prepared for the rather absurd conflicts and ridiculous baddies
