In this dark, gripping debut novel of family, secrets, and loss, a young woman travels the globe to retrace the final months of her sister’s life, searching for answers about her death.
Katie’s world is shattered by the news that her headstrong and bohemian younger sister, Mia, has been found dead at the bottom of a cliff in Bali. The authorities say that Mia jumped—that her death was a suicide.
Although they hadn’t spoken to one another since Mia suddenly left on an around-the-world trip six months earlier, Katie refuses to accept that her sister would take her own life. Distraught that they never made peace, Katie leaves behind her orderly, sheltered life in London and embarks on a journey to find the truth. With only the entries of Mia’s tattered travel journal as her guide, Katie retraces the last few months of her sister’s life, and—page by page, country by country—begins to uncover the mystery surrounding her death.
Weaving together the exotic settings and suspenseful twists of Alex Garland's The Beach with a powerful tale of familial love in the spirit of Rosamund Lupton's Sister, Swimming at Night is a fast-paced, accomplished, and gripping debut.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Bought this as a clearance hardback for co-worker's trip. She came back and gave it to me and said it was wonderful so of course I had to find it on audible. It was one I couldn't turn off.Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
On the edge the entire timeWhat does Fiona Hardingham bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
I loved the personal relationship that occurred between the sisters even in death. How she was able to recreate her last days and to come to terms with her own life choices.Any additional comments?

‘because of you i will drop my towel and swim into the ocean and kick my legs’ i screwed that up but that was the last line in the book. this is not my third book by this author in a row and I again am very pleasantly surprised. Now I won’t lie. I really did think Mia was going to be alive the whole time and so that was kind of a disappointment. However, I did see mia sleeping with Katie‘s fiancé in the very beginning when Mia was on the bathroom floor talking about shame and all that stuff. What I did not see coming was Katie and Finn being in a relationship even if it was only for four months, and what a selfless act of an older sister to break up with the boy that she loved just because it made her younger sister uncomfortable. I really enjoyed this book again. It was a good book. It had a lot of you know. Mental health quotes that did go a long way. I really liked again however every single thing came together at the end and with a nice big bow on it, I did not like Noah’s brother that whole thing kind of gave me the heebie-jeebies I won’t lie about that however, I did like the fact that Noah was trying to protect her in that moment, even if it did not go the correct way. I really liked the fact that she met Noah in that way, that was really sweet and kind. I do feel bad for Noah and his brother the fact that they lost their youngest brother Jacob and the oldest brother had to stay behind be the whipping boy essentially. I also kind of figured out that Katie and Mia didn’t have the same Dad just because of how everything was like put together during those flashbacks however what a difficult thing as a man to decide to raise another person‘s child even though it was his brother. I think this book had a lot of intricate details that all kind of weave and flowed into one another, and I really do like the fact that at the end that Noah was very honest with Finn and was very honest with Katie in the sense of you know this is what really happened? I was doing it to essentially protect myself. I do apologize however you know I still had to also fingers crossed that Katie and Finn get their happy ever after.
the title didn’t match however….
