Captivating story of family love
I really enjoyed Summer of Joy by Ann H Gabhart. It is a heartwarming, charming story of family, of community, and of love--familial and romantic. I see that this book is third in The Heart of Hollyhill series but I think it is easily read as a stand-alone book. The author gives enough of the background stories that I did not feel lost in the details of the plot. The characters are people one would like to have as friends. In the town of Hollyhill, there are plenty of colorful locals, who act as locals do in small towns--they take an interest in each other's lives, pitching in to help when the need arises. I especially liked Wes and his stories about Jupiter. If readers enjoy The Mitford stories by Jan Karon, they will not want to miss The Heart of Hollyhill series. I was given a complimentary copy of the book through Audible and was not required to write a review. The opinions are my own. The author narrates her book and does a great job giving voice to her characters.
